3DMark are planning a Linux version but no date for it yet

3DMark just released a version for macOS and they are actually planning a Linux version.

What is it? A tool for benchmarking, testing, and comparing PC performance. It’s incredibly popular and certainly would make benchmarking and system comparisons easier on Linux.

The good news is that in the comments on Steam for the macOS release post, a developer confirmed “Linux version is still planned, but unfortunately we do not know yet when”. This isn’t the first time they’ve said so, with Linux support mentioned back in May 2024 with the release of the Steel Nomad benchmark.

Hopefully it won’t be too much longer.

At least for stress testing we have the recently released OCCT that’s also coming to Steam. It’s nice to see more companies actively working on Linux support for their apps. It’s great we have a lot of games now thanks to Proton, but Linux still needs to catch up in other areas like this.
