Ectoplasm Location in Oblivion Remastered

Ectoplasm Location in Oblivion Remastered

If you’re on your journey to become a master alchemist in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you may want some extra ingredients. Ectoplasm is a great source of effects for potions. It can provide Shock Damage, Dispel, Fortify Magicka, and Damage Health for potions, and despite how rare it may seem, there are quite a few areas where you can encounter the enemies you need to take down to gain the ingredient.

Enemies That Drop Ectoplasm

You’ll need to hunt down the Ethereal Undead to get your hands on ectoplasm.

While it may seem like a daunting task to track down Ethereal Undead to get some ectoplasm, it is quite easy to find them. Essentially, every type of these undead can drop the ingredient. This will include Ghosts, Wraiths, and Spectral Sailors. There are going to be multiple types of these ethereal figures as well. You have the Ancient Ghosts, Faded Wraiths, Gloom Wraiths, and Sanctified Dead as a few examples. Spots that will house these undead are typically Undead Dungeons, with some having a decent chance of appearing within Necromancer Dungeons as well.

While Necromancer ruins will have a high chance of Ethereal Undead appearing, the Conjurer ruins will not have this same effect. The Conjurer ruins were filtered out here, but keep this in mind for any future expeditions to ruins and dungeons. One solid location for some quick ectoplasm, in particular, will be Rielle. These ruins are available relatively early on in the game, and do not require a quest to get into the other sections of them.

While not a large set of ruins, it is still a medium-sized one with plenty of loot to gather on top of your ectoplasm ingredient. Rielle is just to the west of the Cloud Ruler Temple, which the main quest will also take you to, making it very easy to find. It should be noted that all variants of the Wraith will drop ectoplasm, but some ghosts aren’t going to drop it. The Nether Lich, for example, may look like a ghost in-game, but it will not drop the ingredient.

When exploring these dungeons, looking for ectoplasm, you will be able to come back within 72 in-game hours to explore them once again to farm the ingredients. Some of these ruins are going to be filled to the brim with enemies, while others are smaller with fewer enemies overall, but also less of a chance of things going sideways for you.
