Check out the Neo City stage from Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

Sega and developer LizardCube have revealed another stage from their upcoming Shinobi revival, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, the graffiti-filled, neon-lit Neo City.

It honestly just looks fantastic. The art direction is absolutely on point for this futuristic, yet grimy cityscape that you’ll have to navigate. Juxtaposed with this is the combat with popping splashes of colour (and red in particular) as you strike down Joe Masashi’s new foes.

The city contrasts with the last stage reveal for Oboro Village, which was released last week.

But Sega and Lizardcube have been on a real tear with videos and teasers, so there is also a behind-the-scenes video from the team to explain the reasons for the new art direction in the game. In fairness, it’s been decades since the series’ heyday, so this new direction is very welcome.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is coming out on 29th August for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
