Phison Approaches the 15 GB/s Mark with its Latest E28 Gen 5 SSD Controller at Computex

Phison at Computex 2025 showed off its latest E28 series client M.2 NVMe Gen 5 controller. The reference E28-based drive from Phison, which implements its PCIe redriver and retimer solutions, was shown nearly hitting the 15 GB/s sequential reads mark. A live benchmark session with CDM put out 14942.85 MB/s sequential reads, with 14149.47 MB/s sequential writes. Both the sequential reads and writes are the highest in the industry for this form-factor. Next up, the company showcased its new E31T DRAMless controller and reference design drives in the M.2-2242 and M.2-2230 form-factors. Phison says that the first drives implementing the latest E28 controller should hit the market in the coming weeks.
