Chromatic Braseleur Boss Guide in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Quick Links
If there’s one thing that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is good at, it’s creating unique and highly engaging boss fights. Throughout your lengthy journey, will come across various Nevrons that need to be taken down, all of which have some sort of artistic trait. For the Chromatic Braseleur, it’s his glowing wings and fashionable giant hammer. Despite having these wings spread out, he doesn’t really use them in this fight, but he still offers a bit of a challenge for those unprepared.

Attack |
Description |
---|---|
Chromatic Braseleur performs a Hammer Combo. |
A six-hit combo in which the first swing is a horizontal attack while the rest are overhead strikes. Each strike is slow outside the first hit, and it’s a simple binary rhythm to it, so you should be able to time at the very least two-through-six fairly easily. |
Chromatic Braseleur performs a Hammer Smash. |
This is a very punishable attack in which the Braseleur will start with a jumping attack, and then follow up with a very slow standard strike. You will be able to get two forms of damage here if you’re able to time things correctly. |
Chromatic Braseleur summons 2 ice orbs. |
The Braseleur will bring out two adds onto the battlefield that will fire at a random party member. If that party member is hit, they have a high chance of being inflicted with Freeze. |
Strategy
The Chromatic Braseleur is fairly easy despite being very intimidating. I mean it is a large ice/fire Nevron that has giant wings and a giant hammer, to boot. Regardless, despite his outward appearance being worrisome, his attack patterns are very punishable.
For starters, the Chromatic Braseleur will start off in Fire form, meaning that it will be weak to Ice attacks and absorb Fire attacks. Every time you hit its weakness, it will swap forms, meaning you will always have to keep a lookout for the visual tells for what stance he is before attacking. The main thing you look for is his left half. If it’s glowing red, that means it’s in its Fire stance, thus being weak to Ice. If it’s not glowing red, it’s in its Ice form.
As for the attacks, just hope that the Chromatic Braseleur uses the Hammer Smash over the Combo only because of how easy it is to parry, unleashing two bits of retaliatory damage. The Combo is still easy to parry because most of the attacks are at the same speed, but the first hit is deceptively fast compared to the rest. As for the orbs, do not destroy them. Similar to other enemies of this nature, these orbs are incredibly easy to parry if you use the audio cues, allowing you to unleash massive damage through a parry. Destroying them will actually put you at a disadvantage.
