Where to Find Carbon Ore in Dune: Awakening

You probably won’t find Carbon Ore often in Dune: Awakening unless you’re actively searching for it, because it’s rather scarce compared to the other materials you can mine. However, that becomes expected as you start crafting higher-level recipes, which often makes you find materials that aren’t as abundant, and might require more materials compared to lower-level recipes.

How to Fast Travel in Dune: Awakening
Arrakis is large, but there are ways to fast travel in Dune: Awakening.
Like most crafting materials for more difficult recipes, you won’t be able to collect them until you reach the point where you enter the Vermilion Gap, and you want to have a vehicle that you can use so that your risk of being eaten by a sandworm goes down when you travel to locations where the ore deposits spawn.
Carbon Ore Location
You’ll find Carbon Ore to the north of the Anvil tradepost. If you want to mine it, you need at least the Cutteray Mk2. Otherwise, you have to just settle for picking up the small pieces of Carbon Ore around the large deposits, which isn’t a great way to farm materials, but it does work if you have the patience for it and absolutely need this material urgently.
In addition to gathering it yourself, you can also get Carbon Ore from other players. This might be through trading directly with players at a social hub that allows trading, which would be Arrakeen or Harko Village, or you can head to one of those hubs to check the CHOAM Exchange, which is this game’s equivalent of an auction house that players can use to buy and sell items among each other.
Carbon Ore Uses
The main use of Cabon Ore is as a component for Steel Ingots. As for Steel Ingots, there are a ton of recipes that require these for crafting, such as the Stilltent, Slaver Gear, Artisan Weapons, and even the standard Windtrap.
Because of this, you definitely want to start gathering and storing Carbon Ore when you have the chance to do so, since you’re likely going to go through a lot of it throughout the game. Plus, the crafts that use it offer quite a few important upgrades that you’ll want to take advantage of as early as possible in Dune: Awakening.
