Fatshark’s brilliant Warhammer 40,000 Left 4 Dead clone, Darktide, is getting a brand-new class in an upcoming update. In a bid to transform the co-op FPS game, the first Darktide DLC is coming alongside major progression changes that will massively improve the already-fantastic game.
Announced during the annual Summer Game Fest, formerly E3, celebrations, Fatshark has officially revealed the upcoming Arbites class, a powerful new class that has a unique new prologue and a Cyber Mastiff canine companion.
Warhammer 40,000 Darktide’s new Arbites class
In the upcoming Darktide DLC, the new classic is far more distinguished than the current four options available in the game. As an Arbites, you have a background of being stationed at Tertium—you’re a trained warrior and your dialogue, stats and more reflect that.
The Arbites class has three personality types for each gender: Authoritarian, Fatalist, or Maul. Additionally, you can customise the look of your faithful Cyber Mastiff companion, giving them more natural or mechanical features, change the colour of their fur and more.
In the new Warhammer 40,000 Darktide DLC, the new class has exclusive offensive weapons including the powerful Arbites Shotgun that can stun enemies with an electric charge if they can actually survive a blast from the weapon. There’s also the Shock Maul melee weapon, a reinforced Assault Shield and the Dominator Maul as well as a powerful Shotpistol.
You can also make use of the Voltaic Shock Mine, which eletrocutes and stuns enemies in a specific area, as well as the standard Arbites Grenade. There’s also the powerful new abilities including the Castigator’s Stance that massively buffs you, raises base speed and ignores penalties, Break the Line, which staggers enemies while you bash through them, and the new buffing drone dubbed Nuncio-Aquila.
Furthermore, the Cyber Mastiff is more than just a friendly face. While exploring, your faithful companion will automatically attack any nearby foes, but can also pounce on selected enemies. There’s even unlockable extras including Remote Detonation, which causes your dog to stun enemies in a massive area-of-effect.
Priced at $11.99 for the standard edition, and $18.99 for the deluxe edition, the new Arbites class comes alongside a new update that will improve the early-game tutorials, improve the game’s voice acting and renew cutscenes. Additionally, difficulty and progression has been completely changed.
