MediaTek Is The Only Listed Company In Taiwan Whose Annual Salary For Non-Executive-Level Full-Time Employees Exceeds NT$4 Million; Even TSMC Does Not Offer The Same Compensation

TSMC’s revenue for the first quarter of 2025 was $25.53 billion, with MediaTek posting some healthy figures at around $4.7 billion, but it is nowhere near close to the semiconductor behemoth’s earnings, that has left the competition in the dust and is very close to achieving full-scale production of its 2nm process, which will be utilized by lucrative clients like Apple. However, despite these impressive numbers, the latest financial compensation comparison data reveals that non-executive full-time employees working at MediaTek take home a higher annual salary than TSMC, making it a better option if individuals want to pocket better earnings.
The remuneration details of non-supervisory full-time employees of listed companies in Taiwan were mentioned by ITHome, with MediaTek ranking first with an annual salary of NT$4.31 million, which comes to approximately $148,997, making it a hefty sum for workers not stationed in the United States. The interesting part of these statistics is that MediaTek is the only company in this list whose employees enjoy an annual income exceeding NT$4 million. The aforementioned figure has also witnessed a 14.81 percent year-on-year increase compared to 2023.
In second place, we have Realtek, and it pays its employees NT$3.915 million, or $135,361.55. If you are wondering where TSMC lies, it is at number seven, where a non-executive full-time employee earns NT$3.391 million, or $117,193, making it significantly lower than what MediaTek staff gets. The report does not mention why this income disparity exists, but it is possible that TSMC offsets the lower amount by offering its more senior and talented individuals a higher income.
It is also possible that this difference exists because TSMC has to compensate for a larger number of employees. For 2024, it was reported that MediaTek had around 21,982 people, with TSMC housing nearly four times that number at 83,000 personnel. The Taiwanese fabless semiconductor manufacturer was also considered one of the best firms to work with last year, suggesting that employees potentially have a better future there.
