Warner Bros launches mobile RPG DC Worlds Collide

Warner Bros announced today that it has launched its new mobile game, DC Worlds Collide, on iOS and Android worldwide. The title is a free-to-play squad-based game featuring a cast of over 70 DC Comics characters, including stalwarts like Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Warner Bros Games’ San Diego studio developed DC Worlds Collide, and rolls out a tie-in for the upcoming Superman film featuring several of its characters starting this week.
According to WB Games San Diego, DC Worlds Collide features a storyline based on the comic books “Trinity War” and “Forever Evil.” In a preview for the game, GamesBeat saw some of the various events and modes available to players, including puzzle challenges and 5v5 PvP arenas. The developer plans to add more characters in future following the Superman tie-in.
Katelynd LaVallee, studio head at WB Games San Diego, said in a statement, “With
DC Worlds Collide, we are giving players a mobile experience with the iconic characters and stories fans have come to love in the DC universe. This game puts the power in players’ hands — from assembling custom squads and unleashing powerful moves, to exploring story-driven missions and going head-to-head in PvP battles. There’s something for every kind of player, and we are excited to see their unique character selections, team builds and strategies.”
Warner Bros’ games strategy has shifted recently in response to high profile successes and failures such as Hogwarts Legacy and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Earlier this year, the company shuttered multiple studios, including Monolith Games (and also canceling that studio’s in-development Wonder Woman title), and opened a new studio last month. The company has stated its intention to focus its gaming efforts on four tentpole franchises: Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat and DC.
