Final Fantasy 9 Remake Update Is Bad News for Fans

As players were hoping for Final Fantasy 9 remake news on the eve of the original’s 25th anniversary, a known insider dropped some really bad news. The game, which was all but confirmed to be in development, may have possibly been canceled.
Final Fantasy 9 remake cancellation report comes amid 25th anniversary celebrations
Final Fantasy 9 remake was originally named in the infamous Nvidia GeForce Now leak, which turned out to be completely accurate. Later, known insiders corroborated its existence, and in June last year, the game was once again leaked by the Epic Games Store database, EpicDB.
Fast forward to today, the 25th anniversary of the original release of Final Fantasy 9. Players got their hopes up for an announcement as back in March, Square Enix had launched a website in preparation for the celebrations. The following month, the company posted a crytpic tweet that many assumed was hinting at a reveal.
However, according to known insider NateDrake, who has a pretty stellar track record, things aren’t exactly going great for the rumored remake.
“As of last check it remains in development, to my knowledge, but I need to a do a fresh check and see what a more current status is,” NateDrake wrote on ResetEra. “I did hear a month or so ago that it was in trouble and possibly canceled.”
NateDrake followed up by saying that they need to further verify their information regarding the potential cancellation, so do take this with a grain of salt. But fans are already upset over this report.
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.
