Alongside the development of The Elder Scrolls 6 for PC, Xbox and potentially PlayStation 5, Bethesda is reportedly working on a number of Fallout games. Following the studio’s wrap on Starfield and the start of true development of the next Elder Scrolls, “multiple” games in the series are said to be in the works.
Bethesda is working on multiple Fallout projects
While Fallout 3 Remastered is reportedly a joint venture between the studio and Oblivion Remastered studio Virtuous, more projects are reportedly in the works.
This is according to VGC journalist Jordan Middler speaking on an episode of the Friends Per Second podcast. In the series’ latest episode, Middler claimed that numerous projects in the Fallout series are in multiple stages of development.
While discussing the recent Microsofy lay-offs, which saw the cancellation of Everwild, Perfect Dark, and the next MMO from the studio behind Elder Scrolls Online, the journalist explained that Xbox is going hard on Fallout for the future.
“Fallout is the big one,” Middler claimed. “There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including, as far as I’m aware, that one that I’m sure you’re all wanting. It’s not far enough in along to say anything like ‘you’re going to be playing this game anytime soon’.”
Middler then joked, “Anyway, New Vegas 2, coming soon”. Is this the one we’re “all wanting”? Yes, but then also so is Fallout 3 Remastered, Fallout 5 and even a remake of Fallout 2. The fanbase is rabid, and hungry, and it’s been a long time since they’ve been fulfilled outside of Fallout 76 updates.
Of course, the one project every fan has asked for over the past decade is, indeed, Fallout New Vegas 2, or even just a remaster of the original. With Microsoft now owning both Bethesda and Obsidian—and both studio’s are thankfully still around after last week’s lay-offs—there’s potential for collaboration once again. However, that would depend on both studios actually wanting that.
