Stern launches 50th Anniversary Jaws Table
Jaws is not only an iconic film, it’s the reason why so may folks are afraid to go into the water. Spielberg’s harrowing tale of aquatic terror is forever cemented in our minds as the clash between man and nature, and even 50 years after its release it continues to be heralded as one of the best shark movies ever made. Well, the team at Stern Pinball agree and they’re teaming up with Universal Products & Experiences to debut a new Jaws 50th Anniversary Premium Edition pinball machine, filled with new enhancements and experiences. Let’s send a few yellow barrels down and see what comes back up.
The team at Stern have reimagined the playfield, refreshed the artwork, and even brass powder-coated the wireform ramps to give the whole thing a rustic look that’ll last. Additionally, they’ve added a distinctive 50th Anniversary hologram sticker along with a unique translite and cabinet decals. Adorned with a “Blood Red” armor kit that covers the legs, hinges, front molding and side armor, this one is sure to look the part. “We’re honored to celebrate 50 years of Jaws with a new pinball experience that captures the heart and soul of the film. With the 50th Anniversary Premium Edition, we’ve added new cosmetic features that we know all pinball fans and Jaws enthusiasts will love just in time for the 4th of July!”
In addition, the game now has both Team Play and Co-Op, allowing you to play with friends either locally or online. There’s also a new “Smile you sonofa…. Wizard Mode” and a “Wheel Award Final Wizard Mode”, though we’re light on details for those beyond the tongue-in-cheek quote.
Launching at San Diego ComicCon, the new Premium Edition will run you $9699, which is shockingly low considering all of the enhancements, and compared to most tables of this caliber. If you’re a Jaws fan, and frankly who isn’t, Stern has really outdone themselves once again.
