Old School Rally Recaptures Those Classic Colin McRae Vibes on PS5, PS4

Whether you had a PS1 or a SEGA Saturn growing up, there’s a good chance you were gorging on rally gaming goodness.

For the SEGA Saturn, the incredible SEGA Rally Championship took pole position, with its awesome arcade handling and mind-blowing polygonal graphics.

But the PlayStation was no slouch either, and Codemasters’ iconic Colin McRae Rally is still a fun title to play today. In fact, its legacy lives on under the DIRT moniker, which is a series we personally still enjoy.

But if you’re hankering for something a little more retro, then Old School Rally may be what you’re looking for.

With its knock-off Subaru Impreza – in purple and lime green livery, of course – this decidedly old-school racer looks like it’s stepped straight out of your PS1.

Except it’s coming to the PS5 and PS4 later this year, and there’s even a demo available now on the PS Store if you’d like to give it a try.

The game has been available on Steam for some time, where it’s largely received very positive reviews.

Here’s how the developer describes it:

“Old School Rally features fast-paced, arcade-style gameplay, with emphasis on driving skill and high-speed manoeuvres. Carefully crafted retro style visuals, reminiscent of the late ’90s rally games full of nostalgia and charm, making it a must-play for everyone.”

We must say, the team’s really captured the look of the 32-bit era, with grainy textures and crude car models. The full game features race tracks from around the world, each with their own unique vibes and character.
