How to Complete Los Angeles’ Goals in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4

Quick Links
The City of Angels, one of the more beautiful locales in the nation (at least in some spots), is a perfect backdrop for one of the many levels in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4. It comes as the seventh level in the third game, being remade with incredible precision. The difference, of course, is that it’s brought up to modern standards when it comes to visual fidelity, but it still holds a certain artistic charm you can’t get anywhere else. Like many of the other levels, you are tasked with various goals to overcome in order to proceed.

Collect S-K-A-T-E
- S: From the start of the level, head down to the right to find the S on a rail.
- K: After grinding the S rail, the K will be located at the bottom of the hill behind the fountain.
- A: After collecting the K, spin around and head up the stairs via the railing to find the A at the top.
- T: Go down the next set of stairs and cross the street to be in the skate park. Head forward and grind the red structure. You’ll want to jump onto the purple structure and grind again.
- E: This can be found in the small venue behind the T. Either grind the nearby rail or use the ramp to transfer up and grind the backside.
The location you’re looking for is, from the start of the level, head down to the right until you reach a glass building. In front of it there will be a fountain, and to the sides will be ramps that you can transfer up to the next level. All you need to do is get enough speed, angle yourself and pop a One Foot Japan grab (Up+Left+Circle or B depending on which platform you’re playing). Remember to double tap the face button (Circle or B) to modify the grab.
Free Ballin’
This is a pretty straightforward task. There are two balls in the skatepark section of the level (near the middle of the map) that can be rammed into. If you hit them, they will come loose and roll around the skatepark.
Start the Earthquake
Everyone is worried about a future devastating earthquake in California, but Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 certainly makes light of it. In order to start an earthquake, you will need to grind four very specific rails around the main building at the start of the level. Each railing is marked with red to make it easier to see, but their specific locations are relatively close to one another:
- Western Quake Rail: Inside the building itself
- Southern Quake Rail: After coming outside the building, look to the left.
- Northern Quake Rail: After the Southern Quake Rail, turn right and grind the rail that goes back to the start of the level. It also has the S for S-K-A-T-E on it.
- Eastern Quake Rail: At the start of the level, turn left, and you will see this rail going downward.
Stop the Car Chase
Why the Stop the Car Chase is located below the Start the Earthquake goal is very apparent: you need to complete it before you’re able to take on this. After you create an earthquake, you will notice, at the end of a cutscene, a poor young woman’s car is dangling from the destroyed overpass. What you need to do is, from the start of the level, immediately turn left and grind up the wiring that takes you to the top of the building. There will be a small gap where you can jump over onto the decimated highway. All that needs to be done is head down to the car and bump it to put an end to the car chase below.
Get the secret tape
This might be the first time in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 that the secret tape is actually well hidden and not visible from the outset. There is a long process to achieve this. Firstly, you’ll need the Start the Earthquake goal to complete. Afterward, head up the wire to the left of the start of the level and jump across the gap onto the destroyed freeway. Instead of going to help the young woman in the car, take the immediate ramp onto the building and then leap onto the next. There will be a ladder sticking out that you need to grind and then transfer onto the pole across from it. This is where the secret tape is located.
Collectibles
Iron Galaxy Logo
The Iron Galaxy Logo is located at the top of the building at the beginning of the level, but access to it has been restricted. In order to open the sunroof so you can get in, you will need to go to the glass building and grind specific sections of it. Head down there and go to the back of the building. On the second floor there will be three platforms that you need to grind and hop between, obtaining the “Doorway Hop” and “They’re Grate!” tricks. Once you’ve done this, return to the top of the building, hop down the sunroof and grab the Iron Galaxy logo.
Hidden Deck
Similar to the secret tape, the Hidden Deck is actually well hidden. Follow the similar route you took to get the secret tape, but instead of going across the ladder, jump down onto the furthest building with the billboard on it. Turn around to look at the cinema “Goldenvoice Presents,” and grind the small railing up along the edge of the theater collecting the Hidden Deck.
