RØDE adds NDI support for RØDECapture Video for FREE

If you’ve ever done video production at scale, you know just how necessary and powerful the NDI system can be. NDI, or Network Device Interface, allows you to take video streams from various devices and pull them across a network interface. In my case, I use it to pull video from multiple sources into a Network Switch, then transport it to a central server. This allows several team members to be able to reach and edit the video almost immediately, and all without adding any latency. It also means I’m not running multiple programs to control and address a camera (e.g. using the Pan, Tilt, and Zoom functions on a PTZ camera like the OBSBOT Tail 2). All of this incredible functionality is now coming to the RØDECaster Video – one of RØDE’s flagship video production / workflow devices. I can’t express how huge that is, and best of all it’s free! The update also extends NDI support to the RØDE Capture iOS app, enabling wireless integration of iPhones as professional, multi-angle NDI sources. Dual Cam functionality allows simultaneous streaming from both the front and rear cameras, either as separate feeds or combined views, perfect for interviews, commentary, and dynamic location shoots.

PTZ Camera Control – Full Pan, Tilt, and Zoom control for compatible NDI cameras allowing real-time shot framing and adjustments, plus preset saving to scenes for instant recall.
Luma Key – Filter video based on brightness values to remove black backgrounds from input sources, perfect for overlaying lower thirds, titles, logos, and animations.
Key Mask – Precisely crop keying areas to remove unwanted edges, with softness and shadow controls for cleaner, more professional chroma and luma keying.
Input as an Overlay – Use any video input as a downstream key, ideal for permanent picture-in-picture or persistent graphics.
Auto Switching with RØDECaster Pro II & Duo – Link specific audio channels to camera angles for automatic switching during productions.
Rounded Corners – A highly requested visual feature, now available for all scene layers and overlays.
Layer Stretch – An additional control for all scene layers and overlays to manipulate the input or graphic.
UI & Routing Enhancements – Including new grey pre-mute meters and separate mixers for HDMI and NDI outputs.

The Auto Switching functionality coming to their audio capture devices is also a huge deal. If you are a solo content creator, this allows you to set up multiple cameras and audio sources, with the RØDECaster Video creating a multi-cam production without the need for a Producer.

Everybody patches their gear, that’s not newsworthy. It’s when a company essentially takes a shipped device and makes it into something that is worth twice as much as you just paid for it that it’s worth shouting it from the rooftops. Combine this with the incredible trade-in program, the warranty system, and all of the other customer-focused approaches RØDE has taken with consumers makes it almost impossible to recommend anything else.
