Amazon’s Lost Ark MMORPG Getting Big Changes

Amazon’s Lost Ark MMORPG Getting Big Changes

The team over at Amazon Games has released a new update on Lost Ark’s outlook for its future. While there has always been a bit of doom and gloom surrounding the game given its free-to-play nature and its declining player base, Amazon has yet to give up on the MMORPG in the west.

That’s not to say the game is in trouble any time soon, but it’s apparent measures need to be taken to improve the current structure of the game. Amazon has said they went over to South Korea to talk to Smilegate to find improvements.

The latest Lost Ark patch comes with a major issue that interrupts many.

Paradise System

lostark-rimeria

Paradise is by far the biggest update Amazon is looking to create in hand with Smilegate in order to help with burnout and try something experimental. This is meant to be something outside raiding that has three different types of stages and is meant to be fairly easy. This is seasonal content that each character can participate in with its own gearing system. Best yet, the further in the season, the higher the drop rate for gear, so there’s less FOMO for those who get in late.

That is the Paradise mode, with God’s Testimony being the second tier of this. This is a 1v1 boss battle with weekly leaderboards and first time rewards. Because it’s tied directly into the new gear, there isn’t a focus on balancing classes.

Finally, we have Hell mode, which acts as a tower-type system where you can go downward of 100 floors. This is also tied to a key system letting you progress further down while unlocking rewards. All of this will help you get gold, progression material and Paradise gear, and to ensure there isn’t too much of an RNG aspect, at the end of a run, you’ll be able to select between the three options to better your needs. This will be a shorter piece of content every week to hopefully not bog the player down, but instead give them something a little more fun to do.

Future of Hardcore Content

Hardcore endgame content has always been at the heart of Lost Ark, and it won’t change anytime soon. While we have the upcoming raid in a couple of weeks, the Strike raid later in the year, and the final Kazeros raid that’s not even out in Korea yet, what’s past that? Well, Amazon is looking to expand upon this a little bit with a new Challenge mode. This is meant to challenge the player, maybe even include a leaderboard system.

They want to create something on the level of The First difficulty, along with maybe some place to practice mechanics. Unfortunately, not a lot more was discussed, but they are in the early stages of putting this together.

Additional Feedback

Mokoko Bootcamp

LostArk-Feb2025-006

The biggest and best aspect of Lost Ark right now is the Mokoko Bootcamp, encouraging veteran players to take on returning or newer players for raids. Unfortunately, the system has needed improvements to how they determine which camp players slide into. Some returning players ended up in the veteran camp while veterans were in the Mokoko system. The big new improvement is Amazon assigning players based on the number of times they have cleared the actual raid. So, if you have the 10x clear achievement, you will no longer have the leaf. This should help things out a little better.

Mileage Shop

LostArkRoadMap2-2025-05

One aspect of Lost Ark that has been missing since it landed in the west is the Mileage system. This is a shop in the game that offers rewards such as cosmetics to players who spend a certain amount in the game. It was a decent incentive to obtain some unique items, and now the west will be getting our own version. This will be introduced retroactively, so if you’ve already made quite a few purchases, it will give you numerous points right off the bat.

Gem System

LostArk-Feb2025-005

Unfortunately, while Amazon doesn’t have a lot to say about the reception regarding upcoming gem changes, they did mention they are keeping an eye on things as they’re implemented in the east before moving forward with the system in the west.

Lost Ark is available for free on PC with the next big update coming May 21.
