AMD Ryzen 5 9600X Goes On Sale For Just 9 At Micro Center; An Incredible Budget Zen 5 Chip For The Lowest Price Since Launch

This one is yet another terrific deal on Micro Center. Usually, the CPU sells for $200 or over, but it’s now just over $150, which makes it a no-brainer for your brand-new gaming PC.

AMD’s Zen 5-Based 6-Core/12-Thread Ryzen 5 9600X is Now $120 Cheaper Than Its Launch Price

It has been roughly a year since AMD launched its Ryzen 9000 series Zen 5 processors for the desktop, and one of the cheapest SKUs in the lineup is now at an incredible deal at Micro Center. The CPU was originally launched for $279 and succeeded the Ryzen 5 7600X for the AM5 platform. The CPU is now available for even a lower price tag than the latter. At Micro Center, you can get the Ryzen 5 9600X for just $159 at the moment, which is the lowest since its launch.

The processor sells for over $200 most of the time, but hasn’t dropped so much in price in months. There is currently no other Zen 5 processor that can be bought for $159, making it a terrific choice for your existing PC if you already own an AM5 motherboard or you want to build a PC from scratch. The Ryzen 5 9600X offers a 6-core/12-thread core configuration with base and boost clocks of 3.9 GHz and 5.4 GHz, respectively. It is not just the fastest 6-core processor in multitasking and productivity, but it also successfully beats almost all the sub-$200 CPUs in gaming comfortably.

In other retail stores, it is currently on a good discount as well, although not as cheap as at Micro Center. On Amazon, you can grab one for $174 and for $189 on Newegg with a Free DDR5 memory. These prices are still excellent for the value the CPU brings to the table, but if you have the opportunity to buy it from Micro Center, then it is going to save you a good amount of cash, which you can invest in memory or other PC components.

Do keep in mind that Ryzen 5 9600X doesn’t come with any stock heatsink, but you can use even a good single tower air cooler to get started. Since the processor is overclockable, we recommend getting at least a dual-tower air cooler or a 240mm AIO if you want to push the CPU to its limits. The processor also features RDNA 2-based Radeon Graphics for convenience, but will be best with budget and mid-range GPUs such as GeForce RTX 5060, RTX 5070, or RX 9060 XT.
