Apple Is Not Expected To Unveil Any ‘Major Breakthroughs’ In AI Technology During WWDC 2025, Claims Analyst, But The Company Can Leverage Its Ecosystem To Gain An Edge

The WWDC 2025 keynote will kick off later today, with Apple introducing not just a major name change to its multiple operating systems, but we will also witness a preview of what is to arrive later this year. The Cupertino firm, for the most part, has always had an advantage on the software front, but its grasp on AI is considerably loose, which is a terrible look when the company is currently valued at more than a trillion dollars. During the event, one analyst predicted that Apple would not showcase any major breakthroughs in artificial intelligence but believed that the strengths of its ecosystem would play a pivotal role in elevating the user experience.
While AI may not necessarily be Apple’s forte, its experience in three areas, with one of them being a robust ecosystem, will allow the company to obtain an edge against the competition
On X, TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that updates to the UI changes and operating system improvements will play a secondary role, while its AI strategy will be the primary focus. Unfortunately, instead of Apple introducing any notable breakthroughs in the artificial intelligence space, Kuo believes that the California-based giant can instead provide a development timeline on how its features will work on devices.
Keep in mind that Apple has been struck with a lawsuit on how it leveraged misleading advertising for its revamped Siri features to lure customers into upgrading to the new iPhone 16 models and then failed to deliver those very features. Perhaps WWDC 2025 is the right platform for Apple to rectify its past mistakes and showcase its commitment in this area. Kuo also mentions that the company’s on-device AI implementations could range from rebranding Apple Intelligence to integrating AI at an operating system level to improve user experience.
Three Key Points to Watch at Apple WWDC 2025
1. Apple’s AI strategy takes center stage, with updates like UI changes and OS improvements playing a secondary role.
2. No major breakthroughs in Apple’s AI technology are expected. Still, with the market’s limited expectations,…— 郭明錤 (Ming-Chi Kuo) (@mingchikuo) June 9, 2025
The Cupertino titan could also offer third-party software developers the right tools to fuse AI into their apps, plus upgrade privacy and security features. It is no secret that Apple is severely lagging in the generative AI space, but Kuo notes that its strengths in software ecosystem, product design, and chip development can give it an advantage in this category. However, while these strengths can ensure that Apple’s hardware offers effective AI services, it does not necessarily guarantee anything different than what is already out there, suggesting that Apple’s rollout of its previously promised features will need to happen somewhere down the road.
