Mundfish has announced Atomic Heart 2, a massive sequel to its hugely successful open-world FPS game. Announced alongside the likes of Game of Thrones: War for Westeros, Mortal Shell 2 and more, this sequel looks like a marked improvement over the original.
Atomic Heart 2 announced
Shown off during the annual gaming conference, Atomic Heart 2 will take players back into the “Atomic Universe” to experience more of the series’ whacky, alternate-universe sci-fi setting. Players will explore a brand-new world with a host of new weapons, enemies and more.
Following 10 million sales of the original game, the upcoming sequel focuses on an expanded narrative, RPG elements and more player freedom. Built in Unreal Engine 5, the new entry in the series aims to immerse players in a “living game world” with an enhanced combat system spread across melee and ranged weaponry.
“In this utopian world of wonders and perfection, humans lived in harmony with their loyal and fervent robots,” reads a synopsis of the game. “However, what was meant to bring about an era of peace and prosperity at the hands of advanced robotics and AI, has spiralled into chaos. Atomic Heart II picks up with a world on the brink of collapse. It’s up to you to prevent it. The truth runs deeper than you think.”
Atomic Heart 2 is expected to release on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and PC.
The Cube MMO
Alongside the annoucnement of Atomic Heart 2, Mundfish also confirmed another project: The Cube. An MMOFPS game set on a revolving cube world, players will have to fight not only against each other but also their environment.
Also set in the “Atomic Universe”, this new MMOFPS game will give players even more lore and information about the whacky retrofuturistic alternate reality. Very few details are known about the upcoming MMO, and no release date has been announced.
