Base iPhone 17 Leak Promises Pro-Level Bezels, Exclusive iOS 26 Features, And A Secret Dynamic Island Upgrade That Apple Didn’t Reveal At WWDC 2025

Apple’s iOS 26 announcement took the tech community by storm with its new Liquid Glass redesign, and it appears that the company will have additional software tweaks available for the iPhone 17 lineup. At its WWDC 2025 event, Apple did not highlight any changes coming to the Dynamic Island interface, but based on information obtained from a Weibo-based leaker, the iPhone 17 models could exclusively get new features or changes. He also claims that the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air models will get the same bezels as those of the current iPhone 16 Pro models.
Apple’s iPhone 17 could finally blur the line between standard and Pro models with dramatic upgrades
The news was shared by a Chinese leaker prominently known as Digital Chat Station, who has shared accurate information on different unreleased Apple products in the past. The leaker did not share any additional details on the changes, but we can presume that the changes will be software-based. It was previously rumored that the company could make the Dynamic Island smaller on the iPhone 17 Pro models, but it appears that the change will have to wait for another year or two.
The Dynamic Island has been left untempered with since its launch with the iPhone 14 Pro models, and it has now made its way to the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. Apple’s plans to differentiate the iPhone 17 models from the current models will be oriented toward software features, as the change will be exclusively available with iOS 26 release later this year. Apart from the software side of things, the iPhone 17 Pro Max was reported to house a compact, stretched-in Dynamic Island, but conflicting reports claim that the change will take effect next year with the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Apple is moving closer to its goal of an all-screen iPhone, and the 20th anniversary model could be a bigger upgrade than originally expected. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air are also in line this year to get a hardware novelty that has been enjoyed by the iPhone 16 Pro users. The iPhone 16 Pro models feature the thinnest bezels on any Apple device, and the leaker corroborates that the standard iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air will get the same bezels, which is a major plus for users opting for the budget-friendly option. Here’s what Apple says about the bezels on the iPhone 16 Pro models:
The new Pro lineup features the thinnest borders of any Apple product and introduces larger display sizes: 6.3 inches on iPhone 16 Pro and 6.9 inches on iPhone 16 Pro Max — the largest iPhone display ever.
We can expect all iPhone 17 models to feature ultra-thin bezels, which would put the standard model in line with the ‘Pro’ models, as far as the looks are concerned from the front. We have also previously reported that the base iPhone 17 will also get a higher refresh rate display, but it will not be an LTPO panel like the iPhone 16 Pro models, which means that there are chances that the devices will not be equipped with Always-On technology. We will be keeping a close eye on all the latest rumors and reports, so be sure to stick around for in-depth coverage.
