Battlesmiths: Blade & Forge announced Steam Deck support

Battlesmiths: Blade & Forge is a tactical RPG where every piece of gear is forged by you, and there’s also some town-building involved too.

Sounds like a really fun mixture of genres here and it’s nice to see the developer getting dedicated Steam Deck testing in early. As they said in their announcement the game is a while away but “Our testing shows great results with launching and playing Battlesmiths on Steam Deck (in fact, some of our developers now prefer it to any other platform)”.

Additionally they said “We can safely say that Battlesmiths is already fully playable on Steam Deck via the already available touch screen control options and will be compatible with Steam Deck upon Steam release”.

More about it (from Steam):

Crafting that matters

In Battlesmiths, gear isn’t loot — it’s the result of your labor.

Weapons and armor are crafted by you and directly affect how your heroes look and fight. Add runes to weapons for powerful abilities. Enchant armor to customize your squad. Customize the appearances of every hero the way you like.

Rebuild a broken town

Upgrade blacksmiths, alchemists, miners and more. Each building adds new systems, from resource production to advanced gear recipes. Your town is the heart of your progress.

Tactical, squad-based combat

Command a team of up to four heroes in strategic semi-auto battles.

Choose gear carefully: classes are defined by weapon types, and every loadout impacts movement, damage, and attack speed.

Multiple game modes

Whether you love PvE or PvP, there’s always something to conquer:

  • Campaign: story-driven solo missions

  • Arena: fight other players and prove you’re the best

  • Labyrinth: test your build in a brutal survival mode

  • Tower of Trials: scaling challenges with high rewards

  • Clan boss: cooperate to bring down a massive foe

  • Adventure: limited-time missions and side quests
