Best Bui (Yui) Build in Persona 5: The Phantom X

Best Bui (Yui) Build in Persona 5: The Phantom X

Bui, also known as Yui, is one of the first Assassin characters released in Persona 5: The Phantom X. She, along with her Main Persona, Apseudes, stands out as a DPS unit capable of launching multiple Follow-up attacks on enemies targeted by her allies. She can also inflict an Elemental Ailment, such as Shock, which allows her to deal more significant damage to them. As one of the newest Phantom Idols introduced in P5X Version 1.1, Bui excels at aggressive teams that capitalize on Follow-up attack synergies and inflicting Elemental Ailments.

  • Deal Electric damage to 1 foe equal to 121.6% of Attack.

Apseudes Persona Skill Priorities

Here are the suggested Persona skills to level up for Apseudes in order of priority:

Persona Skill

Skill Number

Skill Priority

Sparky Surprise

Skill 3

★★★★ (Very High)

Electric Bomb

Skill 1

★★★ (High)

Thief Tactics

Skill 4

★★ (Medium)

Meta Dynamite

Skill 2

★ (Low)

Sparky Surprise is Apseudes’ key Persona skill to level because it dramatically increases her attacks and follow-up Electric damage during fights. Also, the Jolly Cooperation damage buff will activate through this Persona skill. Another important skill is the Electric Bomb, since it helps Apseudes to deal additional Electric attacks and inflict Shock or paralysis-related effects on enemies.

Apseudes Persona Skill Rotation

Here’s the recommended Persona skill rotation for Apseudes:

First Turn

Second Turn

Third Turn

Fourth Turn

  • Electric Bomb (S1)
  • Optional: Meta Dynamite (S3)

Apseudes’ skill rotation alternates between her Spark Surprise and Electric Bomb skills. Begin your first turn by using Sparky Surprise on another DPS teammate to set up for Apseudes’ Follow-up attacks. Then, on your next turn, use the Electric Bomb skill on a single target to deal Electric damage and inflict a Shock effect. Always use Apseudes’ Highlight skill whenever it is available.

Meta Dynamite can be used at times to target several enemies, but it is only effective if they are all weak to Electric attribute attacks.

Jolly Cooperation

  • When an ally deals damage with a skill, there is a 35% chance to activate Resonance, dealing Electric damage equal to 80% of Attack as a Follow-up attack.

Payappa

A1

  • Increase critical rate of Follow-up attacks by 20%.
  • Increase critical rate by 10% after landing a Follow-up attack on Shocked foes.

★★★★ (Very High)

Humongously Huge Harvest

A6

★★★ (High)

Welcome Rain

A2

★★ (Medium)

A4

★ (Low)

Getting Bui to A1 boosts the Crit Rate of her Follow-up attacks against Shocked enemies. Additionally, it increases the effectiveness of her Jolly Cooperation damage buff when active. If you want Bui to maximize the potential of her Follow-up damage, you must get multiple copies of her and reach A6. However, this is not advisable because powerful Electric DPS, such as Akihiko Sanada, will be arriving in the future. Consider Bui as your Sub DPS or Support DPS for now.

If you are pulling Bui at A1, you should change your Revelation Star Card from Crit Rate to Crit Multiplier to boost her overall Critical damage in battle.

Best Card Sets for Bui

Recommended Space and Revelation Cards for Bui and Apseudes in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

Bui, as a DPS unit, has multiple card set options. Here are recommended Space and Revelation card sets for Bui and Apseudes, along with their optimal main stats and substats:

Growth and Renewal/Completion Card Set (Electric Follow-Up DPS Build)

Card

Active Card Effects

Growth Space Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Growth Card

  • Increase Critical damage of Resonance (Follow-Up) by 50%. (Renewal/Completion Active Effect)

Renewal/Completion Revelation Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Renewal Card

  • Increase Electric damage by 10%. (2-set Renewal/Completion Effect)
  • After allies use Electric skills, increase own Electric damage by 9%. Stacks up to 3 times. (4-set Renewal/Completion Effect)

Bui’s best-in-slot card combo in Persona 5: The Phantom X is the Growth and Renewal/Completion card set. Compared to other card sets, this set improves her Electric skills and Follow-up attacks through Crit damage increases. Also, this card pairing is her top choice for completing late-game main story content, which includes taking down elite shadows and powerful bosses. In addition, this card set’s Electric damage stacks serve as an extra damage boost for Bui, allowing her team to finish game modes with better scores.

Both Electric and Non-Electric teams can benefit from the Growth and Renewal/Completion card set effects.

Trust and Renewal/Completion Card Set (Electric Support DPS Build)

Card

Active Card Effects

Trust Space Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Trust Card

  • When 3 Electric damage buffs are stacked, increase party’s Electric damage by 12%. This effect won’t activate if stacked. (Renewal/Completion Active Effect)

Renewal/Completion Revelation Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Renewal Card

  • Increase Electric damage by 10%. (2-set Renewal/Completion Effect)
  • After allies use Electric skills, increase own Electric damage by 9%. Stacks up to 3 times. (4-set Renewal/Completion Effect)

If you want to use Bui and Apseudes as Support DPS, equip the Trust and Renewal/Completion card set for her in combat. This card combo boosts her team’s Electric damage, making it useful for Mono Electric teams or Electric damage dealers like Closer and Akihiko Sanada.

The Trust and Renewal/Completion card set is not effective on non-Electric DPS teammates.

Meditation and Opulence/Luxury Card Set (Pure Follow-Up DPS Build)

Card

Active Card Effects

Meditation Space Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Meditation Card

  • When activating Resonance (Follow-Up), increase Critical damage by 50%. (Opulence/Luxury Active Effect)

Opulence/Luxury Revelation Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Opulence

  • Increase Ice damage by 10%. (2-set Opulence/Luxury Effect)
  • Increase Resonance (Follow-Up) damage by 40%. (4-set Opulence/Luxury Effect)

This card set, which consists of Meditation and Opulence/Luxury cards, focuses heavily on Follow-up damage. However, the card combo’s 2-set effect increases Ice damage rather than Electric damage. Even so, this card pairing is somewhat usable for future combat events or game mode mechanics that emphasize Follow-up damage bonuses.

You can try this card set for Bui temporarily. Then, reserve it for Fox, whose skill set also focuses on Follow-up damage in battle.

Growth and Power Card Set (Pure Attack DPS Build)

Card

Active Card Effects

Growth Space Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Growth Card

  • Increase maximum number of Attack buff stacks to 5. (Power Active Effect)

Power Revelation Card Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Power Card

  • Increase Attack by 12%. (2-set Power Effect)
  • From the start of battle, increase Attack by 10% every 6 turns. Stacks up to 3 times. (4-set Power Effect)

Bui can use the Growth and Power card combo as one of her initial card sets in the game. This set focuses on Attack damage, which is a damage resource of hers in combat. In addition, this card combo is usable for completing early missions and clearing beginner stages of game modes, such as Velvet Trials Challenge Battles. This card set is generally one of the standard sets for damage dealers.

If you started with Power Revelation Cards for Bui and no longer need them, equip them to Navigator characters like Phoebe and Okyann, or Buff Support teammates like Riddle and Moko.

Bui Card Set Main Stats and Substats

The following are the suggested primary stats and substats for Bui’s Space Card and Revelation Cards:

Card Main Stats

Moon Card

Star Card

Planet Card

Recommended Main Stats

  • Attack Multiplier (Any Team)
  • Attack Percentage (Electric Team only)
  • Crit Rate (A0 only)
  • Crit Multiplier (A1 onwards)
  • Attack (Optional)
  • Attack (Priority)
  • Speed (Optional)

Card Substats

All Space and Revelation Cards

Recommended Substats

  • Crit Multiplier (★★★★)
  • Crit Rate (★★★)
  • Pierce Rate (★★★)
  • Attack Multiplier (★★)
  • Attack Percentage (★★)
  • Speed (★)
  • Flat Attack (★)

Bui’s recommended main stats and substats center around Attack Multiplier (Damage Bonus), Crit Rate, Crit Multiplier (Critical Damage), and Pierce Rate (Penetration). Speed is an optional stat for Bui since the Phantom Idol needs to get ahead of her Main DPS teammates. However, her Speed value should not be higher than that of healer, guardian, and support allies.

When it comes to her Moon Revelation Card main stat, Bui has two options: Attack Multiplier and Attack Percentage. Use the Attack Multiplier or Damage Bonus main stat for any non-Electric teams, such as Joker’s Curse team. Then, switch to an Attack Percentage Moon Card main stat for mono-Electric teams, or a team that features an Electric Main DPS, like Closer or Akihiko Sanada.

Attack Multiplier and Attack Percentage (Attack%) are separate major stats. On East Asia servers, Attack Multiplier is known as Damage Bonus.

Best Weapons for Bui

Bui’s Chakram weapons help to increase her Crit Rate and Follow-up attacks. Her best weapons are as follows:

Bui Weapon

Bui Weapon Effects

Cyber Jammers 5-Star Weapon for Bui and Apseudes in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Cyber Jammers

  • Increase Critical Rate by 18.1%.
  • Increase Follow-up damage by 26.0%.
  • When a Follow-up attack is activated by an ally with Player 2 or by an ally dealing Electric damage with a skill, increase follow-up damage by 26.0% more.

Meta Directors 4-Star Weapon for Bui and Apseudes in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

4★ Meta Directors

  • Increase Critical Rate by 7.3%.
  • After Follow Up, increase own Elec DMG Dealt by 9.7% for 1 turn, up to 2 stacks

Bui’s Cyber Jammer weapon features both Critical Rate and Follow-up damage increases. While her Meta Director Chakram weapon provides less Crit Rate buffs but a decent Electric Damage boost. Picking between is a matter of combat playstyle. If you have Bui at A1, the Cyber Jammers’ high Crit Rate boost will benefit her, as her Star Revelation Card preference switches to Crit Multiplier or Crit Damage.

F2P players should refrain from getting Bui’s five-star weapon because they can boost her Crit Rate, Crit Multiplier, and Follow-up Attacks with better Space and Revelation Cards or teammate buffs. You can save your weapon pulls for Fox or Queen instead.

  • Increase Defense Reduction for each of enemy target’s Elemental Ailments, up to 4 times.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop.

Magnetic Disruptor Wonder Weapon Icon in Persona 5: The Phantom X.

5★ Magnetic Disruptor

  • Increase Attack by 28%.
  • Increase Critical Rate by 9.5% at the start of battle.
  • After any character uses an Electric Persona skill, give the party Magnetized Plasma for 2 turns.
  • Magnetized Plasma: Increase damage dealt by 9%. Also, increase Critical Multiplier by 9% when dealing Electric damage.
  • Obtainable from Destiny Land Shop.

The Sennight Inferno dagger is the standard Wonder weapon for Bui-centric teams as of Version 1.1. This dagger enables Wonder to use Normal Personas with various attributes to boost damage and weaken the enemy target’s defense in battle.

For upcoming dagger weapons, Wonder can pick between Ex Machina, Ancient Dagger, and Magnetic Disruptor. Ex Machina is effective with mono-Electric teams or a team composition made of Closer or Akihiko Sanada as your main DPS, and Bui as your Support DPS. When confronting a single enemy or boss who is vulnerable to Electric attacks, the Ancient Dagger weapon is more effective, especially if the target is affected by Shock and other Elemental Ailments. Lastly, the Magnetic Disruptor, a new dagger weapon for Electric-focused teams, provides Crit Multiplier (Critical Damage) boosts to the party and is preferable to Akihiko Sanada, who also deals Critical attacks in battle.

This helps Bui in dealing significant Follow-up damage to them in battle. Having Yurlungur in Wonder’s Persona Stock will help in removing elite enemies’ resistance to the Electric attribute, helping Bui cast Shock effects on them. As for Norn, this Normal Persona grants Wonder access to Shield effects and additional Attack damage bonuses for Bui and the rest of the party.

Bui and Apseudes can work with any Elucidator characters in both early and later versions of P5X. Okyann, Puppet, Phoebe, and Ange are the Navigators who best compliment her in terms of Attack buffs. If they are not available, she can still work with Wind and Oracle, who provide a balanced combination of buffs and debuffs in battle.

Puppet’s third Support skill, Tide of Dreams, grants Attack Buffs to Bui and her teammates via Seashell Stacks.

Adding Bui and Apseudes to your teams will broaden your offensive options in Persona 5: The Phantom X. As an Assassin unit, she gives her team access to Electric damage in addition to Closer and another way to inflict Shock effects on enemies. She also grants Wonder access to Follow-up attacks, which is a unique combat playstyle in the game.

Despite the current DPS limitations in P5X Global, JP, and SEA servers, Bui is best suited as a Sub DPS or Support DPS for your primary damage dealers, such as Joker and Closer, as well as upcoming main DPS units like Fox and Queen. Her unique skill set allows her to fit into any team composition, including Mono-Electric teams, Follow-Up teams, and Elemental Ailment-centric teams. Bui has up to four card set options, which helps her role as a secondary or third support character in your teams. With the right team composition and card set, Bui and Apseudes can execute continuous Follow-up attacks against elite shadows and tough bosses, assisting Wonder in clearing difficult missions and game modes.
