Borderlands 4 To Launch On Switch 2 Just 2 Weeks After PC and Console

Borderlands 4 was initially meant to launch on September 23, but that launch date was later moved up to September 12, although speculation about the reason for the change in release date ran rampant. However, through all this, aside from confirmation that the game would launch on the Nintendo Switch, there was no hint at when it would arrive on the handheld gaming console. Now, however, Gearbox and 2K Games have confirmed via the official Borderlands account on X that Borderlands 4 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 3, 2025. That’s a little over two weeks after the PC and living-room console launch.

In the replies, the game studio and publisher also confirmed that full cross-play and four-player co-op will be available at launch for the Switch 2. All four vault hunters will also be available to play at launch. What’s still not clear, though, is whether the handheld version of the game will feature cross-platform save and progression. It’s also unclear how well the game will run on the comparably underpowered game console, especially since the PC version calls for at least an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070. Previously, the Borderlands community raised concerns about the level of completeness of the game when Gearbox announced that certain features would only arrive in the new looter-shooter after the launch because other features had taken priority, however it seems as though the development team is firing on all cylinders to get the game ready for launch on all platforms.
