Crimson Forest Guide in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Crimson Forest Guide in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Near the end of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will encounter various areas of the world thanks to Esquie’s newly found ability to fly. This opens up the vast world, unlocking dungeons you never would have found otherwise. One is the Crimson Forest, one of the more challenging locations, featuring a number of the enemies found in The Paintress’ domain. The dungeon itself can be a bit of a maze, but we’re here to help out.

How to Complete Grandis Fashionist’s Poems in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

This fashionista wants to dress the ladies of Expedition 33 in the most elequant of outfits, but first you must finish his poem.

Finding the Three Statues

The main goal in the Crimson Forest is finding three statues in the area and interacting with them. Considering how much of a maze this place can be, especially when you take into consideration the rotating color themes.

Upon first entering the area, jump across the small gaps and then grapple up to the next area. You will then find the Expedition 79 flag to save and rest. Head to the right to find a rope down. Don’t immediately go down the next rope but crawl under the rock to find 5,435 Chroma. Head down the second rope and take the right to collect a Colour of Lumina

. Turn around and head towards three pillars that you can jump across. A little bit of platforming with the last jump onto the broken pillar protruding from the wall.

Climb up the cliff and jump to the uncomfortably small broken pillar with a rope going upward. Head up and do a 180-degree turn. Jump across the small platforms to find a Colour of Lumina

behind some boxes. Head back across the planks and go down the slope to the left to find even more Colour of Lumina

, but more importantly, another Expedition flag across some platforming. Instead of going across the platforms, back track and go up the slope. Continue forward until you come across the first statue to interact with.

This will shift the color scheme of the world and add enemies, so be careful. Look to the left and there will be three soldiers across the gap. Head over and face them. Past them, there are small planks floating in the air. This will require careful platforming to get across. On the platform there will be a Colour of Lumina

next to a tree. From here, you will be back at the first Expedition flag, where you can drop the rope as a shortcut.

Don’t go down to the flag, but instead go back to the floating planks and drop. Down here you will find the second statue that can be interacted with, along with a Resplendent Chroma Catalyst. This will once again change the color scheme to be more muted.

Progress through the cave nearby to find more enemies and crawl through a small gap. You will be close to the first Expedition flag, but down the two ropes. Continue back to where the roads deviate, going up or down. This time go down and platform across to the second Expedition 79 flag. Where you will need to go is to the right. There will be a number of enemies up a couple of steps, and past them is the third and final statue. Interacting with this will revert all the color schemes back to the original, but the enemies you just faced will reappear.

Boss Fight

Head back to the second Expedition flag to find a large red Painted Cage in front of the three knight statues glowing in red. This is where you face off against the boss of the area: Chromatic Gold Chevaliere. This fight in general isn’t too difficult as these are enemies you’ve likely already faced a number of times before. The Clair and Obscur enemies should be taken down immediately as they will buff and shield the Gold Chevaliere, but otherwise counter the attacks like normal.

The only thing different is that the ice and fire attacks we’ve become used to have extended versions, not just being a three-hit for the former, or a five-hit for the latter. It is resilient to Ice but weak to Light, so taking someone like Verso into the fight is highly advised.
