Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate launch trailer is intriguing

Press play on the Destiny 2’s The Edge of Fate launch trailer below and you may think I have uploaded the wrong video. I certainly thought I had done so when it started because it looks more like Remedy’s Control than Destiny 2.
This is because this is the start of a brand new storyline for the game featuring The Nine, cosmic beings who have existed since the dawn of the universe and they are manipulating both time and matter, hence the scenes seemingly set in 1960’s America.
The new expansion will take players to Kepler. a planetoid shrouded by dark matter and plagued by a singularity. Instead of giving players new Light or Dark powers, which is usually what happens with a Destiny 2 expansion, there will be specific powers that are only available at the Kepler destination.
“The Edge of Fate will take place on Kepler, a new destination inspired by the puzzle-solving and pathfinding challenges of Destiny 2’s dungeons and destination design which encourages deep exploration, mystery, and player-driven discovery,” say Bungie. “New enemies, weapons, gear, and destination-specific abilities await those brave enough to dive into its secrets.”
“A key feature of Kepler is the abundant dark matter energy, which powers the destination’s abilities. The new Matterspark ability allows Guardians to bind to dark matter to change forms, enabling them to squeeze through tight spaces, jump and dash across terrain, and become a rolling force of destruction. Additional abilities include the new Relocator Cannon, which uses Fallen dark matter tech to teleport players across the environment, and Mattermorph, which lets Guardians manipulate their surroundings using the combined forces of dark matter and Strand.”
The update on July 15th will also include a new UI called “The Portal”, Armor3.0, and lots of new weapons and armour. The second update, Renegades, which is inspired by Star Wars, will launch in December.
