Blizzard’s latest Diablo 4 Patch 2.3.1 update has officially released. Despite the studio changing its development structure to release less buggy updates, the latest release of the massive live-service ARPG released in a shocking state.
In a rather weak apology to players, Blizzard Entertainment has extended its Gift of the Tree event to offer some reparations to fans in the wake of yet another busted update.
Diablo 4 extends Gift of the Tree
The release of Diablo 4 Patch 2.3.1 resulted in some truly shocking issues for players across all platforms. Players on console were met with frequent crashes and intermittent freezing as well as an overall laggy experience that made the game almost unplayable.
While most of the game’s major issues have been stomped out in a recent hotfix, Blizzard has apologised for releasing the patch in its earlier state. Following the patch’s release, Diablo’s director of social and content marketing apologised to fans.
“We hit some snags with the 2.3.1 rollout this morning so there are some rollbacks in place for PC while a fix is in the works,” Fletcher explained. “We are doing this to ensure there isn’t stability issues with users. Team is working on the fix.”
Fletcher explained that the returning Gift of the Tree will be extended “to make up for the time” taken away by the horrendous bugs. However, some fans believe that players deserve some form of “compensation reward” for having their time wasted.
Diablo 4 has struggled with buggy patches since the game’s release, and patches are still releasing in an underwhelming state. However, it seems that Blizzard is working on some game-changing new updates that will be launching either late this year or early next year.
Recently, a number of influencers were shown footage of the ARPG’s next expansion which appears to feature the returning Paladin class. While unconfirmed, the new expansion also seems to be returning to Westmarch, a location last seen in Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal.
