Blizzard’s Diablo 4 Season 9 Sins of the Horadrim update is yet another massive seasonal update, albeit this time with a massively expanded endgame for everyone. While not the most exciting update in the D4 2025 roadmap, it does add more fun to Blizzard’s still-stumbling ARPG.

In a bid to release less buggy updates with more balance, Blizzard has already patched out one of the biggest Season 9 exploits from the game. A magnificently overpowered combination of powers was discovered during the update’s PTR test period that has already been stomped out.

Diablo 4 Season 9 exploit fixed

In the PTR server for Sins of the Horadrim, players were able to quickly teleport across the map from mob-to-mob, dealing instant damage and clearing rooms. The broken build used the new Propulsion catalyst spell with both the Floaty Bubble and Bloody Charm infusion to zip around environments and insta-kill everything. It was a hilarious and undoutebly fun combination of powers, but Blizzard did need to patch it out.

As explained in the recent Diablo 4 dev diary, Blizzard felt the need to patch out the combination of powers as it was “actually stomping on build identity” and “eclipsing everything else” in the ARPG. Since players are encouraged to try new builds from season-to-season, it means that keeping the build in the game would make sure that nothing else mattered.

“It was transformative,” explained D4 systems designer Aislyn Hall. “So transformative to the point that it was actually stomping on build identity in many cases. We really want you to experience the full breadth of what different characters can offer in Diablo 4, we don’t want it all to be condensed down to one thing.”

“On the PTR we found this particular teleport Propulsion interaction was basically eclipsing everything else,” continued game designer Charles Dunn. “If you looked at a clip of people playing different classes, it looked identical. And that’s not exactly the kind of gameplay we feel is healthy for Diablo 4.”

However, only a little bit of the combination of powers has been nerfed in the grand scheme of things. For example, the Mana Blast from Propulsion now grants a 70% movement speed buff for 5 seconds instead of executing on non-boss mobs and immediately resetting your cooldown. With this, you can no longer teleport across the map and instantly do it again like an anime character on steroids.
