Drinkbox Studios reveal Blighted, a metroidvania action RPG

Drinkbox Studios, developers of the Guacamelee series and Nobody Saves The World, is back with a brand new title called Blighted. Blighted is a metroidvania action RPG coming to PC and consoles in 2026, with the game itself being described as a psychedelic western nightmare, with the mission being to memories of your people.

According to the description, in the world of Blighted the dead were buried with seeds in their heads. This meant their knowledge could be gathered from eating the fruit of the trees that sprouted from those seeds. However, this all changed when the villain Sorcisto decided to forgo the fruit and eat raw brains instead, infecting the world with a Blight. As the lone survivor, your role is to gather the memories before the Blight gets you. The Blight will have a direct impact on the gameplay as it is an evolving difficulty system that will change all of the world.
