Epic Games just buffed the controller aim assist in Fortnite. This change arrived late Friday, just a few hours before the reset of the item shop. The game developer buffed aim assist for both ADS-ing and hip firing, making it one of the most significant changes the game has ever had. Due to this, it will be interesting to see how the community reacts to the buff.
Next time you launch Fortnite, you should notice stronger aim assist if you are a controller player. On the other hand, if you are on mobile or PC, there’s a chance that your opponents will take you down much easier than before.
Aim assist just received a significant buff in Fortnite
On Friday night, Epic Games buffed the controller aim assist in Fortnite by 20% for hip-firing weapons. This buff will make hip firing much easier and more accurate, giving players a big advantage, especially in close-range combat where these weapons are primarily used. Due to this, submachine guns and shotguns are much better now on a controller, although the buff is not limited to only them.
Aim assist’s ADS (aiming down sights) tracking has also been improved. The latest buff brought a 25% increase in it, which is a game-changer. This buff should significantly improve tracking with medium-range weapons, such as assault rifles.

It will be interesting to see how this buff will affect the gameplay. While it is massive, it’s still too early to tell what it will be like in reality. Epic Games will need to collect data for at least a week to see if the aim assist is in the sweet spot or requires further adjustment. However, considering that the company is on a summer break at the moment, it’s unlikely that more changes will come soon.
