Well, it’s awesome to see an AI assistant for cars, and luckily for us, Grok has made its way into Teslas, allowing users to leverage the power of AI to make their journey much easier. However, there’s a slight limitation with Grok’s release on Teslas: The AI models will be limited to AMD’s Ryzen-based infotainment systems, and the older Intel versions apparently won’t get the AI assistant, mainly due to performance limitations. While this would limit the scope of Grok’s AI models on Teslas, the Ryzen platform seemed the only way Tesla could squeeze out the required computing performance.

Based on what we know, you need to navigate to Settings > Software > Additional Vehicle Info to verify your system’s hardware capabilities to access Grok’s AI models on your Tesla vehicle. For now, the AI model’s implementation is limited to interaction with the user, and it can in no way access your vehicle, such as navigation or controlling the climate. But consider how playful Grok has been in recent times, checking it out is a must for Tesla users, especially those who have Ryzen-based systems.
