Rockstar Games has finally released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 after leaving fans waiting for months. Following the game’s lengthy delay until May 26, 2026, fans finally have a brand-new look at GTA 6 with new story details, song choices and even a closer look at some graphical additions.

With this GTA 6 trailer 2 breakdown article, we’ll expose every single detail shown in the new trailer. Check out everything we found below:

Does GTA 6 have ray-tracing?

The new GTA 6 Trailer 2 video confirms a massive use of ray-tracing across the world of Vice City. Every shot of the game is dripping with ray-traced reflections with car windows and the sides of vehicles reflecting everything around them.

Additionally, the game also seems to use a form of Rockstar’s ray-traced global illumination that was added to the PC version of GTA V earlier this year. Shadows also seem to benefit from ray-tracing, but some smaller objects in cutscenes—such as a keyboard moved by a prison guard—are not casting realistic shadows.

What platform was GTA 6 trailer 2 running on?

According to Rockstar Games, the GTA 6 Trailer 2 video was all gameplay footage shown running on a “PS5” system. Rockstar did not specify that the game was running on a PS5 Pro which means that there could be even more graphical improvements waiting to be seen on Sony’s enhanced console.

This makes a lot of sense as a PC version for GTA 6 has not been announced. While a version of the game for PC will release eventually there’s no release date for the game on the platform.

GTA 6 trailer 2 missions and story revealed

In the trailer, Rockstar showed off a tonne of new missions that players will engage in when the game finally releases next year. One mission is a take on the heist from Fast and Furious 5 where a bank vault is tied to the end of a car as Lucia and Jason speed through Vice City.

As the game focuses on a Bonnie and Clyde relationship between its two protagonists, Rockstar has created a tonne of heists for players to perform. Another mission sees the protagonists fighting on the landing gear of a plane as it flies over the city.

As for the main story, the game focuses on Lucia and Jason returning to a life of crime after the former has spent time in prison. While the duo performs bank heists and store robberies, a police force mounts up against them. (If it’s closely adapting the story of Bonnie and Clyde for a modern audience, it’ll likely end in tragedy.)

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” reads the game’s synopsis. “But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Grand Theft Auto 6 character backgrounds

Alongside the GTA 6 Trailer 2 breakdown, we also have some new details from Rockstar’s official website for the game. On the website, Rockstar has released a number of backgrounds for its main characters. They are as follows:

Jason Duval– Jason wants an easy life, but things just keep getting harder. Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. It might be time to try something new.

Lucia Caminos – Lucia’s father taught her to fight as soon as she could walk. Life has been coming at her swinging ever since. Fighting for her family landed her in the Leonida Penitentiary. Sheer luck got her out. Lucia’s learned her lesson — only smart moves from here. More than anything, Lucia wants the good life her mom has dreamed of since their days in Liberty City — but instead of half-baked fantasies, Lucia is prepared to take matters into her own hands.

Cal Hampton – What if everything on the internet was true? Jason’s friend and a fellow associate of Brian’s, Cal feels safest hanging at home, snooping on Coast Guard comms with a few beers and some private browser tabs open.

Boobie Ike – It’s all about heart — the Jack of Hearts. Boobie is a local Vice City legend — and acts like it. One of the few to transform his time in the streets into a legitimate empire spanning real estate, a strip club, and a recording studio — Boobie’s all smiles until it’s time to talk business.

Dre’quan PriestOnly Raw… Records. Dre’Quan was always more of a hustler than a gangster. Even when he was dealing on the streets to make ends meet, breaking into music was the goal.

GTA 6 open-world activities

In the trailer, a few open-world activities were shown off. Players can seemingly rob stores across Vice City for extra cash, and players can even work out at various spots. For example, one clip shows Jason weightlifting at the beach which causes passer-bys to ogle him and another shot shows Lucia working out at a punching bag.

Just like all modern GTA games, players can also spend their money at the local club to ogle performers, if they so wish.

GTA 6 Song List

While there’s no guarantee that every song included in the new GTA 6 Trailer 2 breakdown will be included in the full release, this is our best look yet at an official GTA 6 song list. These are the following songs included in the latest trailer:

  • Child Support – Zenglen & 5 Etwal
  • Everybody Have Fun Tonight – Wang Chung
  • Talkin’ to Myself Again – Tammy Wynette
  • Hot Together – The Pointer Sisters

Grand Theft Auto 6 is almost a year away from release, but Rockstar is finally ready to show fans more of the upcoming game.
