Helldivers 2 devs have a “bajillion ideas” for new content, but the team lacks the manpower

There is a lot to look forward to for the future of Helldivers 2. The game is coming to Xbox consoles in just over a month’s time, and it’s likely the next Warbond after the Control Group will be Arrowhead’s biggest yet due to it coinciding with the Xbox release. While Arrowhead have a lot of plans kept hidden behind-the-scenes, they are flooded with requests and ideas from the community on a daily basis. A lot of ideas suggested by the community are great, however, the Helldivers 2 CEO has stressed that the studio’s problem is manpower rather than creativity.
On the Helldivers Discord, Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, was asked if there are “any new mines thought up”. The user added, “I can submit 30 pages of mine ideas”.
To this, Jorjani responded, “We get like a bajillion ideas a minute, we don’t lack ideas”. However, what Arrowhead do lack is manpower with Jorjani stating, “Like Grand Moff Jerjerod said to Vader, ‘I need more men’”.
Regarding how much more manpower Arrowhead need, Jorjani said in another message, “right now not a whole lot, we’re at maximum capacity almost”. However, while Arrowhead are almost full, the studio does “work with a lot of partners [they’re] trying to onboard”.
As for what ideas Arrowhead have, Jorjani has said he “won’t rest” until a chainsword is in the game. The good news is that this chainsword has already leaked, with the community treating it as possibly a crossover with Warhammer 40K.
Jorjani also revealed Arrowhead often speak about plans for DLSS/FSR and that it’s on the “wishlist”. However, the issue is that “there are [currently] more fundamental problems that impact performance” that need to be addressed first.
