Hitler Seemingly Removed from New Visual Novel PS5 Game

Dark Auction PS5 1

References to Adolf Hitler appear to have been removed from the upcoming visual novel game Dark Auction, with those interested in the title highlighting the changes made to its Steam page. Whereas the game was originally called Dark Auction: Hitler’s Estate, the subtitle has now disappeared.

This carries on into the description, where Hitler is now referred to as “Dictator X”. Taking a look at the Steam page’s history via wayback machine, Hitler was directly named in promotional material: “Noah, whose father hunts for Hitler artifacts, is drawn into an auction at an ancient castle.”

Now, that sentence reads: “Noah lives with his eccentric father, who searches for artifacts linked to ‘Dictator X’.” It’s not clear exactly when the change was made, but no public reason has been provided.

Dark Auction comes from Hotel Dusk: Room 215 and Another Code writer Rika Suzuki, and it still sets up an interesting premise on PS5, despite the changes made. There’s no confirmed release date just yet.

“One day, an invitation arrives for an auction selling items connected to “Dictator X.” Ignoring Noah’s protests, Leonardo sets off for the ancient castle where the auction is to be held, promising to tell Noah everything once he returns. But Leonardo never comes home. With no way to contact him, Noah heads to the castle himself — only to witness something shocking.”
