The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has a mighty piece of equipment you can acquire early during your adventures: the Ebony Armor. In hilarious fashion, you can take it away from a warrior after they get harassed by soldiers. This guide will show you just how to get the Ebony Armor in the easiest means.

How to Get Ebony Armor the Easy Way

Early in your quest to save Cyrodil, you can get the powerful Ebony Armor from a warrior named Umbra. She’s located within a dungeon called Vindasel. It is southwest of the Imperial City and west of the Old Bridge. It’s near a bridge and some ruins. You’ll see a broken door that has a glowing blue symbol on it. Go inside.

Now you’re in the correct dungeon, go down the stairway. Turn left and stop in place. You’ll see a square trap that has your protagonist falling down and hitting spikes. Jump to the left side and then jump to the northern section. Next, go into the room in front of you and turn right. You’ll find a few Mud Crabs walking around, but the real danger is the poison in the middle of the room. Try to avoid the green gas and head down the stairway which is lit up by a blue lantern. Turn right and continue down the hallway until you find a fire. You’ll also spot a sleeping bag and a table with plates/cutlery on it. Jump down, and you’ll find Umbra in her Ebony Armor.

This is when the shenanigans begin. To get her armor, you’ll need to defeat her. Unfortunately, you cannot beat her at a low level and doesn’t take any damage. Instead, antagonise her with a hit-and-run away as fast as you can. Leave the dungeon while avoiding her strikes, sprinting. Keep looking behind you to check she’s still chasing you. Make sure you perform regular saves during this process as she can kill you in a few hits.

Funnily enough, she’ll keep following you. Head over to the Imperial City and get the attention of the guards. As she’s antagonizing you, they immediately see her as a threat. Avoid her attacks and have them deal damage to her. You can shoot some cheeky arrows towards her if you’d like. Once she’s taken out by the guards with dozens of arrows in her, you can then grab her Ebony Armor and awesome Umbra sword that has Soul Trap on Strike for 120 seconds. You’ll feel all powerful with Umbra’s 11 strength and Umbra’s Ebony Curiass, which has 6 defense. Good luck.

The Harder Way

If you want to get the Ebony Armor from Umbra in a different manner, you can have her run into the spike trap. She’ll run towards you in anger, and then she’ll get impaled by the spikes. This takes around a 10th of her health each time. Make sure you avoid her strikes as she can one-hit kill you with a swipe of her sword.
