With more than 30 million sales to its name, Elden Ring helped FromSoftware reach a new level of fame in the games industry, having successfully turned its wide but ultimately linear Dark Souls formula into an open world. That level of success and extremely high quality has now impacted the developer’s follow-up projects, with more sales successes reported.

Last year’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion has sold over 10 million copies, and Elden Ring Nightreign has topped five million units.

On Twitter, the Elden Ring profile thanked fans: “The flame of thy passion burns ever bright in these shadowed lands. To all who wander the Lands Between, we offer our deepest thanks.”

The good news for FromSoftware is that, in the case of the original Elden Ring game, at least, its sales stats will only be further boosted by a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game, currently slated for release this year. It’s being repackaged in a Tarnished Edition containing new armour, weapons, and customisation options. Those new items will also come to the PS5, PS4 versions.

Next up for the Japanese developer is The Duskbloods, which is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. There are also rumours of an unannounced project coming by the end of 2026
