iPhone 17 Air Screen Protector Shows The Front-Facing Camera’s Position Is To The Left Side; Tipster Claims That The Flagship’s Sleek Design Will Force An Internal Components Restructure

The design choice that Apple has taken with the iPhone 17 Air will be vastly different than any of the company’s previous releases, as it will be the thinnest device the technology giant has ever launched. The obvious trade-off is a massive reduction in battery life thanks to using a smaller cell, but according to a tipster who has shared the screen protectors of the entire lineup, the slim flagship will be the only one out of the four to feature a left-sided front-facing camera. It appears that the decision to make the iPhone 17 Air sleeker will result in Apple’s engineers having to work overtime to reconfigure the internals, including the camera.

Tipster mentions that Apple’s decision to shift the front-facing camera on the iPhone 17 Air could result in a better experience, but that is unlikely

The screen protectors of the entire iPhone 17 range were shared by Majin Bu, with a total of three images shown below. Apart from the iPhone 17 Air, every other Apple flagship scheduled to arrive later this year will have its selfie camera positioned on the right-hand side. As for why Apple intends to make its slimmer handset the ‘odd one out,’ the tipster suggests that this change could be due to the slimmer form factor. Despite the iPhone 17 Air rumored to feature a bigger display, a reorganization of the internals could be necessary.

Details mention that this could be the only way for Apple to maintain the Face ID module on the iPhone 17 Air without any compromises. Surprisingly, the tipster mentions that the front-facing camera shifting to the left-hand side could offer better video calls and selfie captures, but we doubt that this will be the case. Just as long as the image quality does not suffer, Apple can choose whatever position it likes. Unfortunately, the decision to reduce the device’s thickness also means that it will sport fewer cameras at the back.

This means that, unlike the base iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the iPhone 17 Air will be significantly less versatile, not to mention that its runtime will be considerably gimped because this particular model is rumored to ship with a small 2,800mAh battery. Assuming there are any other changes to learn about in the near future, we will update our readers, so stay tuned.
