FromSoftware are one of the most beloved developers around for delivering classics such as Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, Elden Ring, and, most recently, Elden Ring Nightreign. We know FromSoftware’s immediate future includes bringing Elden Ring to Switch 2 with the Tarnished edition, and they are also working on a Switch 2 multiplayer exclusive called Duskbloods. While these imminent plans are official, a leak claims FromSoftware’s next unannounced game is so advanced “we should be able to play it next year”.
Leak claims FromSoftware’s next game is in the “advanced stages of production”
MP1st has shared details about FromSoftware’s next unannounced game. It is reportedly codenamed FMC, which is likely an abbreviation of a longer codename. There are not many details provided by MP1st, but they claim it is a “multiplatform” experience. This presumably means PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and possibly the Switch 2, although they don’t know exactly how many as the outlet simply reveals “FMC is a project being tested and prepared for simultaneous release on multiple platforms”. This also eliminates the possibility of FMC being Duskbloods because that is an exclusive for the Switch 2.
Aside from its FMC codename and multiplatform nature, MP1st also claim, “Considering the nature of the source these details come from, everything points to the project being at such an advanced stage that, unless it hits a delay, we should be able to play it no later than next year”.
Everything else from MP1st is purely speculation, but they believe the FMC codename could possibly be a Dark Souls remake or remaster. This is because the only FromSoftware codenames starting with F have been Dark Souls and the Armored Core series. MP1st doesn’t believe it is another Armored Core game, and Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously said he doesn’t want to make another new entry in the Dark Souls series, so MP1st believe the “most plausible scenario is that FMC is a remake or remaster of one of the existing [Dark Souls] entries”. Lastly, they state it’s most probably Dark Souls 3 because the first two games have already received remasters, and Nick ‘Shpeshal Nick’ Baker of the XboxEra Podcast reported last year that Dark Souls 3 Remastered is in development.
FMC being a Dark Souls remaster or related to Dark Souls at all is purely speculation from MP1st based on FromSoftware’s previous codenames, and the outlet stresses that FMC could possibly be something entirely new. It would be incredible to receive a new game by FromSoftware next year that isn’t Duskblood, but remember that none of this is official and internal delays can always occur.
In other FromSoftware news, the developer has promised to make more single-player experiences following the recent onus on multiplayer with Nightreign and Duskblood.
