Lies of P: Overture DLC Available Today

Lies of P was a surprise hit from Korea-based developers Neowiz and Round8 Studio two years ago. This was an Action-RPG project that very few people saw how monumental it would be, being considered one of the best Soulslike available to this day. It featured some of the most innovative and highly engaging combat we’ve seen from a Soulslike, and it certainly helped that it was all tied together in the beloved Pinocchio story, just a lot darker and more depressing compared to the renditions most people know the property from today.

Surprise Announcement

While we’ve known Neowiz and Round8 Studio have been working on the highly anticipated DLC, Overture, for quite some time now, all we’ve gotten from them has been a “summer” release window. Well, you won’t have to wait much longer.

At the Summer Game Fest this year, Geoff Keighley revealed a launch trailer for the downloadable content with a surprise announcement at the end. This wasn’t just some new trailer, but a launch trailer for Overture. As a big surprise, the Korean studios decided to shadow drop the DLC the moment the announcement went live.

Back to Krat

Lies of P: Overture puts you back into the boots of our young, silent protagonist, but considering how the events unfolded and transpired in the base game, it wouldn’t make much sense to have it take place in the future. Instead, Overture is a prequel, being set in the iconic city of Krat before things went off the rails.

This will explore the city in its former glory and beauty, but also feature some of the chilling revelations that lead up to the mess that we witnessed in Lies of P. The story will revolve around a new character named Lea, a Stalker of legendary status, as she goes on a bloody adventure in enact her sense of vengeance.

The downloadable content will feature everything we’ve loved from Lies of P, but will add a new cast of characters, new weapons, new environments, and, of course, new enemies and bosses that will no doubt test your abilities in a frantic situation. Seeing a different side of Krat will help expand the lore and world of Lies of Pie, featuring a frigid setting that has our protagonist buttoning up.

This will no doubt keep fans at bay for a little longer as they anticipate the inevitable follow-up sequel that was teased at the end of Lies of P. Lies of P: Overture is available right now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for $29.99.
