New Life is Strange Collection Compiles All the Games So Far…But There’s a Catch

The Life is Strange series by Square Enix has recently turned 10 years old this year, and to help celebrate, there’s a new PS5 collection that includes all of the games. The unfortunate aspect of this cool-looking box set, however, is that not all of the narrative experiences are on-disc. What a bummer, Shaka Brah!
The Life is Strange Collection Includes All the Games and DLC
Releasing on October 2, the Life is Strange Collection includes the following titles:
Unfortunately, only Life is Strange: True Colors and Life is Strange: Double Exposure will be on-disc. You’ll need to download the first game, Before the Storm Remastered, Life is Strange 2 and all the DLC with a redemption code included in the package. That’s a huge shame for preservation.

For $59.99, it’s a decent deal that includes everything the beloved series has to offer. It’s available to pre-order on the Square Enix Store. Square Enix says it will also be available in retail stores near you. Currently, only a PS5 version exists with no Switch, PC or Xbox alternatives.
Life is Strange is Beloved for the Most Part
The Life is Strange series is known for telling emotional stories and having compelling puzzles revolving around each character’s power. Max Caufield has the ability to rewind time in the first game, letting you alter your choices and manipulate objects in the area. Later on, in Double Exposure, Caufield can switch realities between the one that has her friend Safi dead and the one in which she survives. Both have fascinating concepts. Before the Storm Remastered, despite having no special powers, has strong writing with Chloe Price as the lead.
The latest entry in the Life is Strange series, Double Exposure, is commonly seen as a disappointment for fans. The ending was seen as confusing and inconclusive for many as it leads to an odd Marvel Cinematic Universe-like denouement. Fans are also frustrated with two particular characters breaking up after everything that the player has gone through. The game currently has a “Mixed” reception on Steam.
The series’ first protagonist returned in Life is Strange: Double Exposure many years after her original adventure.
Unfortunately, Life is Strange: Double Exposure reportedly caused “heavy losses” for the game’s publisher, Square Enix, with Dragon Quest 3’s HD-2D remake’s success remedying the costs. The developer Deck Nine also suffered layoffs in December 2024, likely due to the poor sales of the latest Life is Strange game.
Hopefully, the Life is Strange series can make a grand return, despite the latest game’s disappointing reaction from fans. This collection might be a way to salvage what Square Enix has with the franchise as of this point in time.
The overall Life is Strange series has been rewarded heavily by awards shows since it began, though. Square Enix claims it has won over 100 awards throughout the past 10 years with praise from The Game Awards, Peabody Awards, BAFTA, and GLAAD.
