Newest Pokémon set – Journey Together cards and details

The newest Pokémon set is Journey Together, which was released on Friday, March 28, 2025. While on the face of it a less exciting set than Prismatic Evolutions, the prices and hype at first seemed as high as ever, with products disappearing off shelves and into the waiting arms of collectors and scalpers alike. This guide explains what’s new, what’s powerful, and what to buy.

In the coming weeks, our Pokemon TCG news page will carry news on the biggest price movements and chase cards in Journey Together, but you’ll also find some of the highest card values here; if you’re after the really big bucks, however, check out our list of the most expensive rare Pokémon cards of all time.

Journey Together set details

English Release date March 28, 2025
Total cards 190
Main set cards 159
Secret rare cards 31

The first main expansion release of 2025, Journey Together features the celebrated return of trainer’s Pokémon, featuring Pocket Monsters belonging to famous Pokémon characters like N and Hop.

It’s a combination of the Japanese set Battle Partners, mixed together with cards from the Generations starter decks. As well as some intriguing new supporters like Iris, Journey Together has four trainer’s Pokemon ex, and of course a boatload of new illustration rare cards with delectable artwork.

Despite the decades-old trainer’s Pokémon feature no doubt triggering nostalgia for some fans, overall this is a solid but standard set, so it was surprising to see how much demand there is for it, with preorders selling out in an hour.

That said, we’re now starting to see hype cool off a little bit, as fans start to look ahead, to the upcoming Destined Rivals release. Already, we’re starting to see restocks at MSRP.

Best Journey Together cards

Journey Together may not be as packed with spicy cards as a special expansion like Prismatic Evolutions, but it still has its fair share of hits. Here are our top picks to watch out for:

Newest Pokemon set - The Pokemon card Lillie's Clefairy

Lillie’s Clefairy ex

Price estimate: $175

This card has the honor of not just being one of the scarcest special illustration rares in the set, but also a highly usable card. Its Fairy Zone ability lets it deal staggering damage against dragon types, making it perfect for matchups against Raging Bolt or Dragapult.

This is the number one chase card in the set – and probably worth getting graded if you’re lucky enough to pull one!

Newest Pokemon set - The Pokemon card N's Zoroark

N’s Zoroark ex

Price estimate: $83

As you’ll soon see, the special illustration rares of all four trainer’s Pokémon ex are among the most desirable cards in the set. But only one of them features a Pokémon/trainer combo as badass as N and Zoroark.

While this Zoroark is unlikely to become one of the best Pokémon cards of all time like its forefather, this card has enough prestige to command a high price.

Newest Pokemon set - The Pokemon card Hop's Zacian

Hop’s Zacian ex

Price estimate: $63

This is my personal favorite of the four trainer’s Pokémon ex – the art does a great job showing just how enormous legendary Pokémon can be. Hop doesn’t have as much star power as N or Lillie, but this card still has the potential to be one of the costliest in the set.

Newest Pokemon set - The Pokemon card Salamence ex

Salamance ex

Price estimate: $105

With almost as many fans as Charizard, it’s no surprise that the special illustration rare for Salamence ex is one of Journey Together’s chase cards. It’s a great piece – I love the contrast between the sunset sky and the fearsome-looking Pokémon.

It seems so do many other fans, as this card is punching above its weight on the secondary market.

The Pokemon card Iono's Bellibolt

Iono’s Bellibolt ex

Price estimate: $112

The last, but not the least, of these trainer’s Pokémon cards: Iono’s Bellibolt ex feature’s one of the best characters from the latest games – the electric gym leader slash influencer Iono. This cutesy artstyle and close-up on the character has seen this card hold onto a very high price tag.

The Pokemon card Articuno

Articuno

Price estimate: $29

You can’t go wrong with a Secret Illustration Rare featuring a Genwun legendary, and this is Articuno’s first, making it a must for a whole bunch of collectors. With its frosty frame, this art easily rivals the beautiful illustration on Pokémon Pocket. That said, the card’s not too pricey right now – falling to around the $20 mark after Journey Together came out.

Newest Pokemon set - The Pokemon card N's Reshiram

N’s Reshiram promo

Price estimate: $18

We felt the box-topper promo card from the Enhanced booster boxes was likely to be a top-seller, thanks to the cost folks must endure to obtain one, and the lovely artwork featuring a popular trainer and legendary Pokémon of course.

However, it’s fallen to a surprisingly affordable level, making it a pretty good single to buy for your collection.

Top Journey Together products to buy

If you’re looking to make your purchases on the secondary market the answer is “maybe just singles”? Most Journey Together products are inflated way above MSRP right now, and it’s not currently clear whether they’ll remain at such high rates or fall back down in the months to come.

That said, if you can get them at a reasonable price or from retailers, here are the items we’d recommend, and exactly what’s within.

We’ve included some widgets below that’ll link you to the best Journey Together products at a reasonable price, but be warned – some of them are likely to be out of stock. You never know when a restock might take place, though, so keep your eyes peeled.

Booster Box and Enhanced Booster Box

If you’re willing to splash some serious cash, a Journey Together Booster Box offers the best bang for your buck. While the price tag is high, purchasing one of these boxes is more cost-effective than splurging on dozens of individual boosters.

The Enhanced Booster Box offers the same number of cards as a regular box: 36 packs. The only difference is you also get a copy of the promo card N’s Reshiram. That’s a lot of extra cheddar to fork over for a single card, but judging by the fan reaction, this is likely to be one of the biggest card’s from the set.

Elite Trainer Box

A balanced, collection-building choice for many players, a Journey Together Elite Trainer Box gives you nine booster packs, one full-art foil N’s Zorua promo card, and a bunch of materials to build a Pokémon deck, including 45 Energy cards, 65 card sleeves, six damage counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die and two plastic markers for Pokémon special conditions.

The trouble is finding one. These are a super popular way to pick up a bunch of Pokémon packs, and with the hype current as strong as it is, they’re likely to sell out just as fast as they restock.

Next Pokémon set

The next Pokémon TCG set is Destined Rivals, which will release on May 30, 2025. This will combine cards from two Japanese sets, Hot Air Arena and The Glory of Team Rocket.

While we know which Japanese sets will make up the card list, we don’t yet know exactly which cards will be reprinted in the English-language set.

However, fans in Japan – where The Glory of Team Rocket released on April 18 – have already shared photos of the glorious new Team Rocket Special Illustration Rare cards, and they are looking hot. Earlier Heat Wave Arena spoilers had already revealed some particularly high-power cards included in the Rocket themed set, such as this very shiny Mewtwo.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on more reveals and availability for the new set as we approach the Western release on May 30 – so keep checking back (or, even easier, join the Pokémon TCG discussion in our Discord community, where there’s a live feed of our latest articles, deals, and pre-order notifications!)
