Nintendo adds Super Mario Strikers to Switch 2 GameCube library

Nintendo adds Super Mario Strikers to Switch 2 GameCube library

Back in April when Nintendo began showcasing its launch plans for the Switch 2, a wave of GameCube classics were announced for the new console. At launch, just a couple of these games were made available, but slowly, the library is starting to fill out.

The Nintendo Switch 2 officially launched on June 5th. Aside from launch-day titles like Super Mario Kart World, Nintendo also had new additions to the Switch Online Expansion Pack library of classic games. The first three GameCube titles made available on Switch 2 included The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, F-Zero GX and Soul Calibur 2 (complete with cameo appearance from Link).

This weekend, Super Mario Strikers joined the GameCube library on Switch 2. The game, also known as Mario Smash Football in certain countries, first released on GameCube in 2005 and features 5v5 Football matches starring Mario characters.

Other GameCube classics still due to land on the Switch 2 include: Super Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokémon Coliseum and Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness.

KitGuru Says: Apparently there is going to be a Nintendo Direct in July, so we should get more Switch 2 game announcements then, hopefully including an update for the Switch Online classics library.
