NVIDIA Officially Releases DLSS 4 Plugin For Unreal Engine 5.6

With the release of the latest DLSS 4 plugin, developers will now have access to cutting-edge AI upscaling technology for their games or projects made using latest version of Unreal Engine 5.

NVIDIA Unveils DLSS 4 Plugin for Unreal Engine 5.2 to 5.6, Bringing Next-Gen AI Upscaling to Developers

NVIDIA’s latest DLSS 4 technology can now be deployed in Unreal Engine 5 projects. The upscaling technology, which was released alongside the GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs in January made a significant leap in AI-based rendering, allowing gamers to enhance gaming performance by a drastic margin. While some of its features are exclusive to the RTX 50 series cards, DLSS 4 as a whole can be used on any RTX GPUs, leveraging the power of the new NVIDIA Transformer model.

That said, DLSS 4 can only be injected by the game developers through the official plugins made by NVIDIA. We have plenty of game engines that already have DLSS support. While Unreal Engine 5 already has DLSS 4 support for various versions in the 5.0 series, versions 5.5 and 5.6 have just received their own plugin. NVIDIA has rolled out UE 5.5/5.6 DLSS Plugin on the website, which will now allow developers to optimize their games further.

The Unreal Engine 5.6, which was released last month, is significantly ahead in performance compared to previous versions, bringing drastic CPU and GPU performance. Combined with the Transformer model upscaling and features like Frame Generation, Multi-Frame Generation, Ray Reconstruction, and Super Resolution, the Unreal Engine developers can inject these features into their games made in version 5.6.

NVIDIA’s Transformer model came out of beta a few days ago, and we have already seen that the new Transformer model consumes 20% less VRAM. The Transformer model has various advantages over the previously used CNN model, which was deployed in DLSS 1, DLSS 2, DLSS 3, and DLSS 3.5. Now as we move forward with the Transformer model being available in Unreal Engine 5.6, games can be optimized greatly, allowing users to have superior visual fidelity without consuming a lot of resources.
