Nvidia starts shipping H20 GPUs to China again with permission and unveils compliant GPU

After Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang went to the nation’s capital to talk about AI, Nvidia announced that it has received permission to sell its Nvidia H20 GPU in the Chinese market again.

Nvidia has also created a fully compliant Nvidia RTX Pro GPU for the Chinese market, and that these chips are “ideal for digital twin AI for smart factories and logistics.” It’s a big week for this to happen, as Nvidia’s market cap crossed $4 trillion this week.

Huang met with government and industry officials in both Washington, D.C., and China to discuss how AI will raise productivity and expand opportunity. The discussions underscored how researchers worldwide can advance safe and secure AI for the benefit of all, Nvidia said.

He also provided an update to customers, noting that Nvidia is filing applications to sell the Nvidia H20 GPU again. The U.S. government has assured Nvidia that licenses will be granted, and Nvidia hopes to start deliveries soon. Previously, Nvidia had to cancel $4 billion in sales in the previous quarter after the Trump administration blocked it.

In Beijing, Huang met with government and industry officials to discuss how AI will raise productivity and expand opportunity. The discussions underscored how researchers worldwide can advance safe and secure AI for the benefit of all.

As Huang noted during his visits, the world has reached an inflection point — AI has become a fundamental resource, like energy, water and the internet. Huang emphasized Nvidia’s commitment to support open-source research, foundation models and applications, which democratize AI and will empower emerging economies in every region, including Latin America, Europe, Asia and beyond.

“General-purpose, open-source research and foundation models are the backbone of AI innovation,” Huang explained to reporters in D.C. “We believe that every civil model should run best on the U.S. technology stack, encouraging nations worldwide to choose America.”
