Recluse’s Night Shard Location in Elden Ring Nightreign

Recluse’s Night Shard Location in Elden Ring Nightreign

When playing through Elden Ring Nightreign, you may notice that the journal within the Roundtable Hold has entries with options called remembrances. These remembrance options will introduce side quests and objectives for each available character. Each of these will come with a task for you to complete while also gaining some rewards, some in the form of a powerful relic.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Where to Find Executor’s Blessed Flowers

Where to find Executor’s first remembrance item is quite easy, but still dangerous if you aren’t prepared.

Starting Recluse’s First Remembrance

To start the remembrance, you’ll need to progress through the game.

You can’t start a remembrance quest right away when starting Elden Ring Nightreign. To unlock these, you’ll need to progress past the first boss in the game, Tricephalos. Once this Nightlord has been defeated, you can then accept and complete these side quests per character that you have available. When these are available, you can accept the remembrance and speak with the mannequin at the Roundtable Hold.

In Recluse’s case, the mannequin will have an exclamation point above his map icon. You will have to speak to him twice, and he will give you a task for the next time you enter the world to take on your next Nightlord. It is important to remember that only one remembrance at a time can be taken on, and you do have to play the character that has been tasked with the objective. Switching characters will halt progress towards the objective, and you will have to resume the remembrance via the journal.

Obtaining the Night Shard

The objective will be easy to find, but guarded by a monster.

The Night Shard you need to find for the objective is quite easy to locate, but it won’t be something you’ll be able to harvest. It will be guarded by a variant of a boss in the game, the Golden Hippopotamus. This Night-Swallowed of the Golden Hippopotamus is quite easy to fight compared to its normal boss counterpart. While it has less health overall, it will still hit quite hard if you are at a lower level and go into the fight right away; thankfully, it will have the same moveset and attacks.

When you reach the area with the objective, the boss will appear once you are deeper in its den. With the opening to the fight, the boss uses a lunge attack to push you back. If you attack the boss early in your run, make sure you are prepared to dodge frequently. Attacking this objective with all three players will make the fight quite easy, with the interaction only being a few seconds long if everyone responds accordingly to the Night-Swallowed Golden Hippopotamus’ attacks.

If you fail the expedition in the end, you will not lose your progress in the remembrance. You retain your progress and only need to speak with the mannequin once again to claim your reward. The reward is quite good too. This will be a new chalice for you to select your relic loadout, with the options being yellow, green, and a free slot for any colored relics. Each remembrance rewards you with new ways to gain some slight power-ups for your characters, from better relics to more customizable chalices. These are always worth completing and will only help your future expeditions become easier in the long run through these stats and ability increases.
