Seagate debuts new 30TB Exos M and IronWolf Pro drives

Seagate is bringing two more mass-capacity drives to the market. This week, the company announced the global availability of its new 30TB and 28TB Exos M drives, as well as new 30TB and 28TB IronWolf Pro HDDs, built with Seagate’s new Mozail 3+ platform.

As the AI market continues to grow and more industries begin to adopt AI tools, the need for mass storage has risen considerably. NAS systems are evolving into intelligent data hubs supporting advanced workloads and data centers are always looking to improve efficiency. These drives are built to meet increased demand for high-capacity, energy-efficient storage—empowering organisations to scale storage, optimise data placement, and support real-time edge analytics.

Speaking on the launch, Melyssa Banda, SVP of Edge Storage and Services at Seagate said: “Today, approximately 90% of the world’s data is stored in just 10 countries. However, data gravity is increasingly pulling networks to the edge as nearly 150 countries adopt data sovereignty requirements, and AI workloads continue to expand. Datacenters on-prem, private, and sovereign, are leveraging AI to unlock the value of their proprietary data. Our 30TB drives are designed to support these rapidly growing trends, delivering the capacity, efficiency, and resilience needed to power the AI workloads”.

Seagate partner, QNAP, also had this to say about the launch: “By integrating Seagate’s IronWolf Pro 30TB drives, we deliver petabyte-scale, high-integrity storage that ensures fast access, reliable performance, and scalable infrastructure at the edge”.

The Exos M and IronWolf Pro 30TB and 28TB drives are available via Seagate’s online store, or worldwide through authorised resellers and channel partners. The 30TB Exos M will cost £489.99, while the 28TB costs £478.99. The IronWolf Pro 30TB will cost £559.99, going down to £526.99 for the 28TB version.
