Something for the Weekend – 14/06/25

It’s one of my favourite weekends of the year, as the roaring engines of dozens of race cars hurtle down the roads of Le Mans. After a busy 10 days, it’s perfect for me to just sit down and watch hour after hour of relentless motor racing.

But let’s just do a quick round up this afternoon, eh?

In the News This Week

Our fingers and thumbs have been occupied with other tasks, making our news reporting pretty sparse this week.

  • Konami announces Silent Hill 1 Remake as it shares more Silent Hill F details
  • Nintendo Switch 2 sets new records with over 3.5 million sales in 4 days
  • Metal Gear Online won’t return for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but it will have something else
  • Splatoon Raiders is a fresh Switch 2-exclusive spinoff, and there’s a big update for Splatoon 3, too!

Games in Review & Featured Articles

Over in review land, we plugged away at plenty more Nintendo Switch 2 stuff, including the main console review, but that wasn’t the half of it this week’s features! Let’s start with the console itself.

And in the games:

  • The AltersPS5, XSX|S, PC – 9/10
  • Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma – NSW2, NSW, PC – 9/10
  • Mario Kart World – NSW2 – 8/10 (Video Review)
  • Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted EditionXSX|S, PC – 7/10
  • To a TPS5, XSX|S, PC – 5/10
  • Tainted Grail: Fall of AvalonPS5, XSX|S, PC – 5/10

Dom also dug into Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition for Switch 2, coming away rather impressed with what CDPR has managed to extract from the new handheld. And we combined to explore a whole host of unupgraded, unpatched Switch games to see how backward compatibility on Switch 2 powers them to better performance.

Miguel was mightily impressed by Stellar Blade’s PC port this week.

And then from a mix of Steam Next Fest and Summer Game Fest, we had previews of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Stars of Icarus, Abyssus, Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, Absolum

And rounding out the week, What We Played featured The Alters, as well as plenty more Switch 2 with Mario Kart World.

Your Achievements

  • Andrewww didn’t rhyme, but he did alliterate with his gaming this week. He enjoyed all of Dregde’s endings over the past few weeks, continued on with the excellent Disco Elysium, and dipped into the walking sim Death Stranding, which has him still rather befuddled.

That’s the round up for this week’s round up, but I hope you have a great time, whether you’re watching fast cars or not.
