GSC Game World’s gorgeous survival game Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is officially coming to PlayStation 5 consoles later this year following a period of Xbox exclusivity.

Stalker 2 PS5 version announced

Originally announced for Xbox Series and PC, the now massively improved survival game is jumping ship to the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro a year after its debut.

Following the game’s gigantic 1.5 patch which added new guns, modding support, mutant loot and a massively improved AI ecosystem, the game is now better than ever. With more patches on the way, including a huge Q3 roadmap of changes, Stalker 2 is continuing to improve.

Not much is known about the game’s PS5 version or its specific features. However, the game is confirmed to be PS5 Pro Enhanced, allowing the game to look even better than its Xbox Series X counterpart.

The PS5 version of the game will make use of the console’s DualSense controller triggers for more realistic haptic feedback. GSC Game World explains that the adaptive triggers in the PS5 controller will allow for the game to reach greater levels of “immersion”.

There’s currently no specific release date for Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl on PS5 and PS5 Pro. However, the game is scheduled to launch sometime in “late 2025”, a year after the game’s release on Xbox.

In the past, Stalker 2 was pitched as a true Xbox exclusive with GSC confirming that there were “no plans” for a PlayStation 5 version of the game. However, with even first-party Xbox games like Gears of War and Forza Horizon jumping to Sony’s platform, it makes sense that GSC’s game would join them.
