Star Wars Shatterpoint — Wisdom of the Council Unboxing & Review
Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi and Shaak Ti and their Padawan learners are available to play in Star Wars Shatterpoint through the Wisdom of the Council Squad Pack. Although nothing directly proves it, I’d like to believe that these Jedi have been paired together as an homage to their episode fighting General Grievous on Hypori the original 2003 Cartoon Network Clone Wars TV series (developed and directed by the Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky.) In it, the Jedi have done a great job of losing their entire army, and so only a handful of Jedi remain, including Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti, Aayla Secura, and a wigged-out Jedi Padawan. This is when Grievous shows up and the showdown between him and Ki-Ad-Mundi and Shaak Ti begins. Knowing that these two Jedi Masters serve on the council and survive the council, let’s see how they fare in Shatterpoint.
Unboxing
The whole squad comes on a single sprue, and includes 4 bases. Like other Shatterpoint expansions, assembly is pretty easy. The neat little bonus for this pack is that there are four different head options for the female padawan; a Nautolan, a Rodian, a Human, and a Zabrak. I chose to go with the Nautolan because I am also painting up Kit Fisto at this time.
NOTE: Ki-Adi-Mundi’s ponytail is quite small, and the connection point is even smaller. Don’t overdo the glue, and let this sit before you start removing mold lines and filling gaps.
Shaak-Ti’s model is the star of this set. Her flowing robes and pose are great for getting some nice color blends without having to work around folded or crossed arms. That being said, there are very noticeable gaps on her shoulders so those will definitely need to be filled before you start painting.
The figures assembly pretty quickly and I got them all assembled and ready for priming within 20 minutes. As with all of my other Shatterpoint miniatures, I prime the figures separately from the bases- I use double sided tape and some extras bases which helps when it comes time to prime and paint them.
Cards & Abilities
Jedi Master Ki-Adi-Mundi
Ki-Adi-Mundi brings 8 SP and 3 Force to the table as the Primary Unit . What sets him apart is that he has a lot of support for other units. ‘Wise Council’ and ‘Force Push’ move pieces around the board, as does his signature ability, ‘Guardians of the Republic,’ which also reduces Force costs for certain abilities. He can deal out some damage with his Force-Enhanced Reflexes ability as well as his Form V Shien. What’s important to note is that this stance also gives out a lot of healing, which is why I would consider it a more supportive compared to his Form II Makashi. While there more damage hits and pushes on the track, the conversion table for attacking and defending lends Makashi to be more of the combat form of the two.
Jedi Master Shaak Ti
In addition to having a wonderful model, Shaak Ti brings a Force point as a Secondary Unit – how cool is that?? She is 5PC, but she provides a lot. Like Ki-Adi-Mundi, she moves units through ‘Unity Wins War’ and ‘Force Repulse.’ Her ‘Virtuoso’ ability provides her some immunity to some effects we see, particularly in Separatist units. Another highlight is that her stance, Form IV Ataru, has no shortage of options. If she does decide to reposition, she has the option of doing it with two successes or with five. So, depending on who she is going up against, it’s fairly likely that she will deal out some damage and then move.
Also, her ‘Unity Wins War’ ability affects Mercenaries, too. No doubt a nod to the The Clone Wars episode ‘Clone Cadets,’ where she works with a couple of bounty hunters who are overseeing training on Kamino. So, this does open up some more options for her squad, or potentially using mercs in the other squad.
Padawan Learners
They’re not younglings, so they’re not to be ignored. Surprisingly, they have some staying power with ‘Lessons Learned’ and through their stance card. Depending on how your game is going, their ‘Stretch Out With Your Feelings’ can provide a little more help, especially to a Primary or Secondary, by removing a condition or healing at Range 3. I think it would be naive to dismiss them as a 3PC Supporting Unit, but I also wouldn’t send them out right into the middle of battle. After all, they are Padawan Learners and they need guidance from their masters.

Wisdom of the Council Squad Pack
Great
If you like Jedi and want more of them, this pack offers a great Secondary and Supporting Unit option for your games. While I think these pieces do work well together right out of the box, I could see all of the units being paired up with some other Jedi (or mercenaries) and providing as much or better cohesion with their abilities.
Pros
- Ki-Adi-Mundi & Shaak Ti are in miniature form!
- Multiple head options for one of the Padawans.
- Adding more options to Jedi squad builds.
Cons
- Noticeable, but fixable, gaps in the capes and Jedi garb.
- Only one of the Padawans has multiple head options.
