Tekken 8 Fans in Tears of Laughter Over Low Effort Atelier Yumia Collab

Tekken 8’s been going through a tough time of late, but fans can’t help but laugh at the game’s collaboration with Konami counterpart Atelier Yumia.
While developer Gust has done an incredible job creating a Reina-themed outfit for the protagonist of its recently released RPG, the Tekken team has settled on a simple ahoge which can be equipped as a cosmetic.
That’s right, despite official artwork showing Reina in Yumia’s threads, the collaboration amounts to little more than a cowlick accessory you can stick to her scalp. There’s also a floating Puni accessory you can equip if you want to as well.
“Imagine being an Atelier dev putting in the effort so your collab partner won’t look bad, just to peek at what Tekken is doing and seeing that,” one fan wrote on social media.
Another added: “I don’t play Reina but this is really embarrassing. This actually feels like an insult to Reina mains.”
Here’s the artwork the Tekken team previously released to commemorate this crossover, clearly showing Reina wearing Yumia’s outfit and vice versa:
While we understand it takes a lot of time and effort to create outfits for fighting game characters, it is a bit embarrassing to see Gust recreate Reina’s entire look, only to get a lock of hair in return. You’ve just got to hope the devs also see the funny side…
