Bethesda Game Studios and Virtuos’ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been a massive success. As fans wait for Bethesda to finally release The Elder Scrolls VI, Oblivion Remastered has more than satiated with the recent re-release.
On release, Oblivion Remastered skyrocketed to the top of Steam Charts with thousands of players all hopping into the new RPG. Alongside major sales on PlayStation and a massive Game Pass launch on Xbox and PC, the remaster has already sold millions of copies on Steam alone.
Oblivion Remastered sells two million copies on Steam
Via games industry analysts at Alinea, the Steam release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered managed to sell 2 million copies on Valve’s marketplace. In the month of May, Bethesda pushed 585,000 copies of the game, helped by a small discount from $50 to $40 near the end of the month.
The latest Elder Scrolls release’s major sales target has been hit after a rough period for Bethesda. With the game unable to be modded as extensively as its predecessors and the lack of hype for the studio’s last release Starfield, the game has still proven to be a huge success.
Additionally, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered launch on Xbox Game Pass means that many gamers have not paid full price for the game. As one of the biggest games on Xbox and Xbox PC, the game has millions more players through the subscription service.
As a remaster of a game already playable on Xbox and PC without the series’ traditional major mod support, Bethesda’s latest release has been a massive hit for the company. While the remaster has not hit the highs of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC, Bethesda’s new remaster is a major win.
At the time of writing, Bethesda Game Studios is working on The Elder Scrolls VI, a brand-new entry in the long-running RPG series. While not much is known about the game, the game should be another massive open-world game with more dense RPG features compared to Skyrim.
